Where Ariel Gets Her Bling

I received an interesting email the other day and thought you’d enjoy hearing about it. Once upon a time, there was a tv show about Buffy, a teenage girl who wiped out evil vampires. She had a fabulous wardrobe and Peggy Li, a jewelry designer, worked with a costume designer on the show. Eventually, this popular show came to an end, but the talented costume designer landed a job at Medium. Being no slouch in the recognizing talent department, she called her old friend Peggy Li and asked her to create some designs for the stylish young Ariel.

That really nice necklace she wore in “And Then…” is one of the pieces designed for Ariel. I thought it was lovely when I saw her wearing it and knowing how it came to be is kind of fun, huh? You can also see some of the pieces Peggy Li designed for Ariel in “Mother’s Little Helper”.

All this time I just thought they went shopping at local stores for a bunch of stuff for them to wear! Who knew that someone would design pieces specifically for their character? Kewl!

That’s interesting, Katelyn. I wonder if she designs jewelry for the rest of the cast as well, because I have absolutely fallen in love with some of the jewelry that Patricia has worn on the show. Some of them are really cool, although lately it seems that Patricia’s jewelry seems to run toward the simple and understated, and she wears the same necklace a lot. It looks kind of like a religious medallion and I’ve often wondered if that’s what it is.

I wonder if this lady has her own jewelry line or if she just designs for television. It would be neat to see some of her other work.

Never mind. Duh! I just noticed the link in the post and followed it over to her site. She has some beautiful stuff.

Same bling, different season. They must buy it all at one time and use it over several seasons. Easier to do with jewelry than clothing, eh?

What a fun job THAT would be. “What do I do? I shop for a living. With other people’s money.” Fun!

The costume designers this season are different than the ones they had at the end of last season, but they did work on Medium previously. I wonder if that’s why she’s wearing the pieces again.
