NBC Kicks Medium to the Curb

May 19, 2009 by Katelyn

In its most insane move ever, NBC got rid of Medium. Hello? Are they completely off their rockers over there? Before you sink into a deep decline, all is not lost. There is a chance that CBS will pick up the show instead.

A merry band of Twitterers is spreading the news far and wide and bloggers are frantically blogging. With all of the buzz, hopefully the chance will become a definite yes and we’ll be enjoying Medium on CBS for years to come. By the way, it wouldn’t hurt to send out a Tweet to CBS to save #medium. Or if you don’t do Twitter, why not shoot a quick Save Medium!! message through the CBS website?

Now, please stay tuned for a further rant about the sheer mind numbing lameness of NBC: So, umm…Leno is mildly amusing at Midnight if I have insomnia. Do they really think I’ll flip over at 10 pm from another channel where there is a clever sitcom or great mystery show airing so I can listen to him ask really non-bright individuals who the last President of the US was? Really? They really think it was a smart move to replace Medium with Leno? Alrighty then. (Waves goodbye to NBC as it drifts further and further into the far reaches of the television Twilight Zone.)

You know, I just realized this whole post is completely superfluous. I could have just done this:

Yeah, I think that just says it all.

I hate NBC!!!!! Are they out of their minds?!?! Please oh please let CBS pick it up. I did read that NBC picked Medium up for 13 episodes to air in February, and CBS refused, saying they wanted a full 22 at full price. NBC being as poor as they are was forced to pass. The site I read said that CBS planned all along to pick it up for a full season if NBC didn’t. Apparently CBS has a deal to air epiosdes on Lifetime, and upon Medium’s cancellation, CBS would lose millions. Not to mention Medium is so close to 100 epiosdes. I’m not sure if any of this is true, but I sure hope CBS makes the right choice.

I would say CBS is very smart to be working the press and internet like this….getting more publicity for “Medium” already.
    CBS, please air the show!

This is the dumbest decision in the history of dumb network decisions.

I really want to believe that CBS will pick it up, but I’m afraid to get my hopes up again. I was so convinced by everything that I heard that NBC would renew it that I wouldn’t let myself contemplate the possibility of it being cancelled.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m so crushed right now, I don’t think I could stand another hearbreak.

I’ve already sent an email to CBS pleading with them to pick it up.

Btw, Ben Silverman is a giant horse’s @$$. The only reason that he didn’t pick it up, was because he backed himself into a corner with the Leno deal. And the fact that he tried to lowball CBS again, and they said no way. It was all just a macho, p***ing contest.
Way to go, you big schmuck. Eat dirt and-,. well, you know.

I just emailed CBS to save Medium too..I think that if enough heat and attention is generated by the fans they will have to keep it on air and will have to re-consider..so the best thing to do right now is to keep spreading the word on this and perhaps light some candles..LOL..

and Katelyn..your post was so comical and hilarious..the pictures made me lose it(in a good way)

PS can anyone think of anything to start a campaign to save Medium..I know for the show Chuck you buy a a $5 dollar foot long to keep it on air..I made a suggestion to have us buy a Medium sized drink or meal(get it..Medium?..) I know it’s sort of cheesy but I am trying to think of other things we could do..any thoughts?

  5. MWA says:

I think we should send envelopes of either sleeping pills or no doze (do they still make that?) to CBS in honor of supporting Medium. That would not cost more than a stamp to send, and I am sure people likely have some on hand to send.

  6. MWA says:

This wonderfully exciting and insightful show must be saved. Patricia Arquette, the rest of the cast and crew do not deserve to lose their jobs, nor do we fans deserve to lose this show.

I am stating a campaign to save ‘Medium’, and am going to CBS to pick up the show.
Here is what I will be doing:

Sending a letter to CBS pleading to save the show, and will title it “Don’t Put Medium to Sleep”, and will mark the envelope as such. Inside the envelope will be pills, which can be assumed to be some form of sleep aid or sleeping pill (NOT prescribed, just over the counter).

    CBS contact info:

    CBS Studios Address:
    7800 Beverly Boulevard
    Los Angeles, CA. 90036
    General Phone Number:

Please join me in showing CBS that ‘Medium’ does have a huge fan base and we want the show saved!

Oh wow, I’ve just heard that CBS has officially picked up Medium to partner Ghost Whisperer. So woo! We get a season 6! I feel so relieved.

  8. Betty says:

I’m stoked that Chuck was picked up – that will be the ONLY reason for me to ever watch NBC again is to see Chuck. Other than that, I’m outta there!

  9. marcus says:

I just can’t believe it.. even if the show is “almost” over.. .give it a decent send off..not just leave it dangling the way it is. But I think it still has alot more life left in it, especially with the 3 daughters.

    Hello Medium Fans!

I hope this will reach your site administrator(s)

I am seeking assistance with my PhD dissertation research and seeking regular viewers of Medium, NCIS, Heroes, Numb3rs & Any CSI! We, at Columbia University, are attempting a research study involving complex primetime television.

Our tests are online and will be kept confidential. All participants will be entered in a drawing for the latest season of DVDs from one of these shows as a form of compensation. If you are HUGE fan of any show – you can help!

NOTE: The entire survey will take around 40 minutes or less to complete in two (2) separate sections. Sections may be completed at different times, but subjects must COMPLETE EACH SINGLE SECTION in ONE SITTING! To complete the second section, subjects will be emailed web links from primetime.television.survey@gmail.com within 24 to 48 hrs.

Simply click on the link to begin the first section!

    Thanks very much

    Best,
    Jamie
