“My Sister’s Keeper” Out Tomorrow
Sofia Vassilieva (Ariel Dubois on Medium) stars as Kate in the tear jerker My Sister’s Keeper, which hits theaters tomorrow, June 26, 2009.
In the film, Sofia Vassilieva’s character, Kate, struggles with leukemia. Her parents, Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric), decide to have another child, one genetically engineered to be a perfect organ donor match to Kate. This new daughter, Anna (Abigail Breslin), loves Kate and endures many medical procedures as she grows up. When she hits 11, though, she decides that her body is her own and seeks medical emancipation, which could leave Kate with no hope left. The film is based on a book of the same name by Jodi Picoult.

I still don’t know why Sofia had to shave her head for real – Cameron Diaz didn’t even though they make it look like she did.
Great pics. That would be a very tough spot to be in as parents trying to save your child.

I saw the film yesterday evening. Sofia was outstanding in my personal opinion, Abigail Breslin too. I loved their scenes. I didn’t sympathise with Sara as much as I did when reading the book. I can’t decide if it was down to Cameron Diaz’s portrayal or the script.
If you’re a die-hard fan of the book, you’ll probably be a little disappointed. One little part bugged me, although I tried to go in with an open mind, not expecting it to be the exact same. And obviously time means they had to sacrifice certain aspects.
Still, overall, I really enjoyed the film. I read some reviews who said it was confusing, I didn’t find that at all. I thought it flowed pretty well. Take a box of tissues though, I was weeping a lot! Not sure what that says about me!!
Sofia is pretty much bald the whole movie, Cameron Diaz only one scene. I guessed that was why, it was quite harrowing in parts. I’m on the give Ariel a boyfriend campaign next season now.
