Medium 6×05 “Baby Fever” Open Mic/ Discussion Thread

October 23, 2009 by Kona Gallagher

It’s that time again: time for another new episode of Medium! We’ve got the 100th episode tonight, called “Baby Fever,” and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Allison seems to go off the deep end a little bit and even ends up shooting a woman in the face with pepper spray!

We’d love it if you could join us here at 9 PM EST for the Open Mic. If you can’t make it, feel free to use the comments on this post as a discussion thread. We want to hear your thoughts on the episode!

OMG I loved this episode- Joe’s reaction to Allison was classic, I guess Allison secretly would like another baby.

At first I thought the mom had something to do with it because she was too calm for someone whose baby is missing. Plus it was suspicious that the little girl died suddenly for no reason. Don’t they have to do an autopsy in a case like that?

I liked the twist of it being the nanny’s cousin. How long was that poor baby in the oven? I’m surprised he didn’t suffocate in there.

This was GREAT for the 100th episode and definitely my favorite of this season so far. The episode went by so fast.

Next week looks good too. Did Allison bite joes leg? It looks like it since she was the only one in the room with him. Funny!

Really good episode.. Makes me wonder what they are going to come up with next. I was wondering if anyone knew what song was being played throughout the whole episode

OMG! What an AWESOME episode! It just keeps gettin’ better and better! I guess Allison really did go off the deep end a little bit (ya think?) but as usual, she had a reason for it. Glad that the woman realized why she did it and didn’t send her to jail. (Wouldn’t have much of a show with her in jail, would we? Lol!) Patricia Arquette’s performance in this one was again, nothing short of stunning! She really pulled out all the stops in this one. I loved the way the episode was written. It kept you guessing right up until the end. I was also certain that the mother was going to be involved somehow and the daughter’s death would be connected, but it wasn’t. What a fantastic episode.
Loved the subplot with Bridgette and Marie too. Bridgette suffering the “middle-child blues”, until Marie reminds her that she’s her big sister and Bridgette realizes that she is important to someone. That was so sweet. And the ending when she helped Marie and the music teacher. Awwwww.

This season just keeps getting better and better. Love it.

Fantastic episode! It was kind of funny watching Allison go off the deep end and how Joe reacted to it.This was such a puzzler episode which I love the best.

This episode did go by fast not a slow part at all. I didn’t want it to end yet.

Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber did a Great job. I love the way they interact.

It was nice to see what was going on in Scanlon and Dinovi’s life too. Too bad we only got to see a picture of the baby.

Next week looks awesome for the halloween special.

It does seem that Medium is getting better and better with each episode this season!!

Really Really good episode. I thought Joe was great in this episode. What a teriffic Dad he is to those girls. Allison was acting all loopy over the baby
and forgot about her own girls. Joe had some great lines too. I prefer Joe much better in this capacity than with his job. His job stuff bores me so it was also great that there was no job stuff in this one.

I loved the main storyline and even the B plot with Bridget and the clarinet was good. Maria Lark did a super job- loved her scene with Joe about not being special.

Great that we finally got to see Lee and Lynn in this one too although no baby.
Next weeks episode looks to be fun for Halloween.

I wonder how it did in ratings last night.

This was my favourite episode of the season thus far. I love episodes like this, it really flew by and kept me guessing! I pretty much suspected everyone. The baby in the oven was creepy, but slang here for a lady being pregnant is ‘bun in a oven’ i.e she’s got another ‘bun in the oven’. I’m not sure if it’s a just a brit expression or not?? So I was amused in a way.

I loved the director’s style for the scene where Scanlon, Allison and the armed police entered the house, that was pretty nicely done, even if it was a tad over the top for searching a nanny’s house. .

“Oh.. okay, I can help you with this… you should.” Whoever was writing for Joe this episode had me in stitches. That, and the line about Allison not being any less of kidnapper cracked me up.

I love watching actors who leave no need for spoken word when their facial expressions convey it all, referring specifically to Joe’s reaction to Allison’s opening dream and his surprise at Marie and the clarinet. No words were necessary.

I had just assumed the pepper spray was just Allison in her dreams, I pretty much choked on what I was nibbling on at the time. I was totally speechless and could not see how Allison was going to get out of that situation. Good job that Allison has friends in the right places.

Joe maintaining his implausibly high standard, he really does put up with a lot! I’m not surprised he was angry at Allison, especially with her non-existant reaction/concern to Bridgette.

The opening dream was hilarious. I love it when Allison wakes up giggling and smiley, like when she dreams about Scanlon becoming a father. I’m struggling to recall more of her ‘happy’ dreams tonight.

The one thing that did kind of bug me was Allison saying she couldn’t relate to losing a child which isn’t completely true since she had a miscarriage and was at least until “Sweet Child Of Mine” having regular ‘Brian’ dreams. That’s a very minor grumble though.

Devalos is one hard-working DA, he always seems to be in the office! Liked the little glimpse of little Leigh on the phone.

Absolutely adored the Marie, Bridgette subplot. I knew I would like that aspect since it was the family dynamic that made me catch up with 3 seasons of this show. One of “those things”, didn’t Joe handle the situation well. He is an excellent father

This is one of my favorite Medium episodes ever. Normally the scary ones are my favorite but this one was so funny I loved it. Joes reaction and his lines were what had me laughing. Also the way Allison was acting over this baby. I liked when Joe told her “you already have children and they don’t just want to see you on visitors day” Also when Allison said she wasn’t sure she about calling the police to tell she found Bryce and Joe tells her ” I can help you with that and picks up the phone to call Scanlon and there goes poor Scanlons date night. It was good to see Scanlon with DiNovi again acting like typical new parents. I like how Medium keeps everything about the show so realistic.

They kind of led us to believe the mom was invloved at first because she seemed so creepy the way she was so calm. We didn’t know anything of Elizabeths cousin until the middle of the show. It was great they way Allison maced her.You go Allison!

This episode was very fast paced and entertaining. Medium does seem to keep getting better as the season moves along. Oh yes it won in the ratings again with 8.4 viewers.
