A Trip Down Memory Lane: Patricia Arquette as a video vixen
November 2, 2009 by Kona Gallagher
I had no idea this existed until I recently stumbled across it on YouTube. Back in 1995, Miss Allison DuBois herself, Patricia Arquette, starred in a Rolling Stones video. She plays a woman who was at the top of the world, but developed a nasty drug habit and ended up at the bottom.
It seems as though the video is supposed to simulate being high, so it’s very wavy and kind of difficult to actually watch. It’s pretty interesting though– plus bonus fun fact: the video was directed my Michel Gondry, who directed many music videos, but graduated to film, directing such movies as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind, Rewind.

Kewl, Kona! That’s one of my fave old-school music videos. Michel Gondry is a genius. If you haven’t seen it, get the dvd retrospective of his work. It’s really fascinating, and features this, as well as many of his other memorable videos. And if you haven’t seen the movie that he and Patricia Arquette did together called “Human Nature”, check it out. It’s offbeat and quirky, but fun in an odd kind of way. And it has a really beautiful message in it. It was written by Charlie Kaufman, who wrote “Being John Malkovich”, if that tells you anything.
Young Hollywood should watch this video and take it to heart.
I do like Michel Gondry on occasion, the Science of Sleep over Eternal Sunshine.. any day for me.
The video left me feeling a little dazed. I did manage to spot London though.
Thanks Kona, I enjoyed this.
