A Valentine for Lee and Romance on a Budget for Allison
Since we just talked about which actor or actress we wanted to be under the mistletoe with a few weeks ago, I thought it would be more interesting to try to fix up Lee Scanlon with a dream date for Valentine’s Day than to ask what actor or actress you’d like to be on a dream date with.
So, who would you set Lee up with and where should he take his new girl this Valentine’s Day? I think Sandra Bullock as a new cop and a trip through the Desert Botanical Garden followed by a dinner at one of those little hole in the wall places that let you sit and talk for hours without bothering you would be nice. (But then, I like plants, even prickly ones.)
And let’s not forget Allison and Joe. They could probably use a few tips on how to be romantic when the piggy bank is empty. Anyone have some ideas for how they can celebrate without spending much money?

I think Scanlon would very much LOVE to go out with Vanessa Marcil from Las Vegas - maybe not the character she plays on there, or maybe so - might be some terrific fireworks! One of her whales kidnapped her last year and as he was trying to rape her, she managed to open the door on the small private jet they were on and he was sucked out of the door! Take THAT you creep! Maybe he had an equally whacked brother who kidnaps her for revenge and takes her to Phoenix where Lee rescues her - AFTER Allison dreams about her, of course!
Valentines on a budget - well, they could have a treasure hunt to find coupons they have left for each other - you know, home-made coupons with things like “good for one hug” “good for a kiss”, etc. They could have a picnic in the backyard. One time my kids made up menus for us to order from and they set the table and made the dinner for us! I have such great kids! Snif, Snif!

Katelyn, I really love Sandra Bullock, but she does not have a stake in this show like she did the George Lopez show, so I don’t know if they could get her to do TV. Not that this will happen, but I’m just sayin’……..

I had an answer to this yesterday, but I’ve finally experienced the dang spam filter…
My thought was similar to Betty’s, in that, Ariel would rally her sisters and they would put a picnic together for Allison and Joe and the whole family would eat outside in the backyard.
Lee needs a new kind of woman, and for some reason, don’t ask why, I’ve chosen a venture capitalist for him; a woman he meets that doesn’t work in law enforcement/public relations, but maybe he has come to her rescue nevertheless! I love the idea of the botanical gardens, and he would arrange to have a bouquet of her favorite flowers waiting for them at one of the exhibits. And since his Valentine can’t be me, daggnabbit, if I were to write this episode, she sure as heck would look like me! LOL!

I think a nice romantic dinner at home with no kids and one night of NO visions!! I think Joe would really appreciate that one.

Jasmine Guy as a new cop for Lee.
Allison and Joe should send the girls to a friend’s house. They could enjoy a nice dinner at home, take a bath together with their favorite song from when they met. The rest is up to them.

You know who I think would be a great match for Lee? Tempe Brennan from “Bones”. I think her sharp wit and fiery temperament would be a great match for his laconic manner and dry humor. Of course, there is that pesky Booth problem to deal with. Who would you choose if you had to pick between Scanlon and Booth? THAT would be a tough one. But I think she and Scanlon would make a great pair. I like the idea about the Desert Botanical Garden, and maybe a nice romantic dinner afterwards, maybe at the Arizona Biltmore or the Phoenician (both of those have FANTASTIC restaurants, and they’re the perfect romantic getaway spots).
As for Allison and Joe’s Valentine’s Day on a budget, it would be hard to top last year’s Valentine’s Day, and Joe’s heartfelt message on her voicemail. ( I still melt when I think about that one. And her reaction when she heard it.I’m gettin’ all gooey just thinkin’ about it.) But I think that the girls could pack them a romantic picnic basket with candles and wine, and a tent and sleeping bag, and they could go for a late evening hike, maybe up Camelback Mountain, and have a romantic sunset dinner up there and then sleep under the stars on top of the mountain. (If you’ve never seen the view from the top of Camelback Mountain, then you don’t know what you’re missing, especially at night. It’s in the heart of Phoenix, and the city sprawls out all the way around it, so at night, it’s incredible.) And of course, Ariel could babysit (free of charge, of course, I mean, they are on a budget).

Dawn,
I was just reminiscing about “The One” tonight. What a perfect ep for V’Day 2007…
As for budget romance for busy married-with- family types; I don’t have a clue. If the couple is not overly stressed, the things you suggested would be perfect. But if stress is on the scene and intimacy is suffering, someone will have to go on a mission. I like the surprise, “I packed your bag, shut-up, you’re coming with me to a (affordable) hotel NOW!” tactic.

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! I’m going to be selfish and set up Lee with myself :) I had to do it. We can go anywhere he wants!
For Allison and Joe, maybe just dinner and a movie, or even rent a romantic movie (”Say Anything,” any version of “Pride and Prejudice,” & “Laura” are some of my favorites.) I liked that early episode where Joe “surprised” her with a trip to Mexico for her birthday (but she had her suitcase under the bed and ready to go). I’m off to go find something within my budget for my boyfriend … men are impossible to shop for!

Hey nansee! No fair choosing yourself for Lee! Ha! Ha! OMG nansee, have you seen what it costs to go to a movie these days? You almost have to take a loan out, especially if you plan on buying refreshments there, too. Somehow I don’t think that would be in their unemployed budget. Now a movie rental would be good or TCM is playing some good old-fashioned romances today and tonight. Wonder what Allison’s brother is up to these days? He could babysit so they could be alone. They could afford a cheap bottle of champagne or wine and light some candles, - turn all the lights out to help save on the electric bill, but just pretend it was to be romantic! Ha!
I hope everyones day turns out the way they wanted - Happy Valentine’s Day!
