Angelica Huston Interview
Buzzine has a fantastic interview with Angelica Huston about Choke, a movie that is related to Alzheimer’s. While the interview centered on the movie, there are a few questions about her work on Medium, too. Apparently, she was sick and she didn’t think she could do it without the time to learn her lines and was pretty much freaking out. Patricia Arquette reassured her that she could handle it and the crew would make everything look fantastic when they edited it.
Angelica Huston said the nicest thing about Patricia Arquette and the rest of the crew: “I loved Patricia Arquette. She’s a jewel of a girl, and I’ve never met a nicer or more understanding crew.”Just goes to show that we aren’t wrong for being such fans of this fantastic show and great actors, right?
Also, she discussed the hours they put in to produce an episode. I know I’ve seen something about this before, but it just shocks me every time to hear that these people are out there performing, giving it their all and making a fantastic show after they’ve been working 14 hours already that day!

That was a great interview, Katelyn. Thanks for sharing. It was neat to hear her talk about all of her upcoming projects, but especially her work on Medium and working with Patricia and the rest of the cast and crew. It’s always nice to hear someone say such nice things about something or someone that you like, because that just makes you appreciate them all the more.

They’re not exactly working those 14 hours, it’s a lot of hurry up and wait. Do a shot, wait while they re-set up for another shot. They are also paid extremely well for their time - first year show stars usually make $15,000 PER EPISODE. Medium has said they have an 8 day shooting schedule, so if they are “on set” for 14 hours per day for 8 days, that still works out to $134 per hour for a first year star - imagine if they are making around $45,000 to $50,000 per episode - that would be $446 an hour! When you figure in only the main star of the show would be required to shoot most every scene. The longer they do a show and the higher the ratings, their pay goes way up to hundreds of thousands per episode. Some shows reward their stars after a hit season with, oh, say, a new Porshe! Put away the violins, folks, they’re hardly working under sweat shop conditions.
That’s not to say Patricia Arquette doesn’t deserve every penny she gets, she does. So do the rest of the Medium cast, but they are very well compensated and only shoot a show for 6 to 7 months of the year, then are free to shoot another show, movie, or just travel or spend time with the family.
