Review: Medium 6×14 – Will the Real Fred Rovick Please Stand Up?

I’ve long thought that Diedrich Bader was an excellent comedic actor; his role as the lovable redneck neighbor in Office Space cemented that for me about a decade ago, but unfortunately, he’s just one of those actors who doesn’t get nearly enough work. Hopefully, his role in this episode of Medium will change all that.

Bader played around a dozen characters this week, and moreso than just relying on costumes, he took pains to make each one an individual person. When he was in the kitchen with Allison as Joe DuBois, Bader nailed the slightly hunched way Joe walks around the …read more

Sofia Vassilieva takes us behind the scenes of Medium and teaches us about “big scary beavers.”

Sofia Vassilieva takes us behind the scenes of Medium and teaches us about “big scary beavers.”

Sofia Vassilieva is featured pretty heavily in tonight’s episode of Medium, as she takes on a babysitting job with a “difficult” child. Although it seems like the child isn’t so much difficult as he’s just being tormented by a giant beaver. You guys, the video looks as bizarre as this sounds. There’s literally a dude dressed in a giant beaver costume, and Ariel has to confront him.
The boy may have powers kind of like the DuBois women, but instead of blood and guts, he sees… giant beavers? This is what I got from this behind-the-scenes footage, so I’m not really …read more

Promo for Medium 6×14 – Will the Real Fred Rovick Please Stand Up?

Promo for Medium 6×14 – Will the Real Fred Rovick Please Stand Up?

CBS has released the promo for this week’s Medium episode, “Will the Real Fred Rovick Please Stand Up.” One major thing struck me in watching this video: Allison’s hair is getting long! When she attended the Golden Globes, I was wondering where that short bob came from, because there had been very little indication of that on the show. Now, however, you can definitely see it starting to appear. Likewise, Ariel’s hair has gotten longer as well– it’s nearly shoulder-length.
But, beyond haircuts, the episode looks pretty awesome: Allison keeps seeing a killer’s face, and even sees it in place of Joe. …read more

Review: Medium – Psych

Review: Medium – Psych

While Lee and Devalos were only small players in this week’s episode, the DuBois family was front-and-center. We saw a lot of what’s a fairly typical dynamic in the DuBois household: Joe and the girls are left to pretty much figure things out for themselves while Allison is absorbed in a big case. In this instance, Bridgette thinks she has her first crush, and it’s big sister Ariel to whom she confides, instead of Allison.

While ideally, Allison would be around, I like the fact that Medium shows what becomes a typical event in a household in which either both parents …read more

Sofia Vassilieva talks about joining the Stand Up To Cancer campaign

Sofia Vassilieva recently joined the Stand Up For Cancer campaign, which both Patricia and her Sister Rosanna Arquette have done work for. Vassilieva says that she was inspired to get involved with the charity after playing a cancer patient in My Sister’s Keeper, and seeing the resilience of young cancer patients first-hand.
According to the video, Stand Up To Cancer has raised over 100 million dollars in just under two years of existence. You can watch Vassilieva’s interview, as well as another PSA featuring such stars as Renee Zellwegger and Rob Lowe, below.

What song was Ariel listening to in the car on Medium?

What song was Ariel listening to in the car on Medium?

On this week’s episode of Medium, Ariel was giving Bridgette a ride home from school, and while she was waiting for her, the car radio was playing. I had never heard the song before, but they played it for quite a while, so I decided to do a little digging and figure out what it was.
Turns out, the song Ariel was listening to was “All The Right Moves” by One Republic. One Republic, if you’ll recall, is the band that had that huge hit, “Apologize,” that was on the radio every five minutes last year.
Here’s the video for “All The …read more

Sofia Vassilieva stars in a Stand Up To Cancer promo

Sofia Vassilieva stars in a Stand Up To Cancer promo

Recently, we saw a video in which Rosanna Arquette interviewed her sister, Patricia Arquette, about how cancer has affected their lives. The interview was done for the charity, Stand Up To Cancer, and now, Sofia Vassilieva is working with them.
The spot was filmed recently, as Vassilieva has the short bob she’s been sporting lately. It’s only a 15-second spot, but it’s quite well-done, and it’s always nice to see celebrities, especially young ones, working with charitable organizations.
You can watch the spot below:

Blast from the past: photos of Sofia Vassilieva from her first Medium events

Look, it’s December and there really isn’t a whole lot going on. So as I was perusing the far corners of the web looking for exciting stuff to bring you, I noticed that there aren’t any new photos of the stars at events or on Santa’s lap or anything like that. However, do you know what we do have? Plenty of old pictures.
Sofia Vassilieva began playing Ariel DuBois when she was just 12 years old, so we’ve really seen her grow up and change onscreen. So I thoiught it would be fun to take a look at photos from her …read more

Press Release for Medium 6×10 “You Give Me Fever”

They can’t all be stripper murders and bank robberies gone awry. There has to be a variety of killings and general dastardlyness in Phoenix. In this week’s episode of Medium, Allison’s trying to stop a massive bio-terror attack. Meanwhile, in more family-related matters, it looks as though we’re finally going to get the return of Tina DiJoseph and actually get a look at the littlest Scanlon. Lee is supposed to propose to Lynn, but Bridgette is having some dreams that may prevent that from happening, which makes me excited for this episode, because I always love me some Bridgette dreams.

Review: Medium – “The Future’s So Bright”

Review: Medium – “The Future’s So Bright”

Here’s what I love about Joe DuBois: Life is just very difficult for him. He seems so put-upon and frustrated, but in a way that I just kind of find hilarious. When he begrudgingly goes to the doctor after Allison receives a visit from his dead father warning her about Joe’s heart, and is prescribed meditation, Joe looked as though he were about to smack the doctor and run from the room.

Though he ends up trying meditation in the end, he treats it as though its a secret drug problem or bizarre sex fetish that he needs to make up …read more
