Criticisms Galore Over Patricia Arquette’s Cute Red Top
I thought Patricia Arquette looked cute and comfy in her red top and I’d totally wear it myself. I know I dress a bit on the Bohemian side and don’t do high fashion unless I’m going to a wedding, but I seriously liked it. However, I must be the only person on the face of the earth who feels that way, since there has been one critical post after another on the fashion blogs.
The nicest critic was probably Go Fug Yourself, who says:
Why does she always leave the house looking like that wacky woman who lives three doors down from you, who is REALLY nice and sort of very interesting, but who is always puttering around her side yard with lanyards she’s made from her own hemp and whose rickety old Volvo is full of spare change, plastic doll heads, potting soil, and hundreds of unopened packets of raw sugar?
My response is what’s wrong with that? I think if she dressed in those cookie cutter outfits all the other celebrities wear, she wouldn’t be Patricia Arquette. Yes, I like to see her looking fabulous in little black dresses for the award ceremonies, but I like to see her character shine through in her day to day clothing choices, too. If she wanted to be just like everyone else, she’d only act in slightly shallow boy finds girl movies instead of choosing risky roles that stretch her acting abilities. Does anyone else feel that way?

I agree, Katelyn. I’m not exactly Bohemian myself, but I do like to dress comfortably and not to please other people. I think that’s probably the way Patricia feels too. It’s no wonder she hates being seen in public. She knows that she’s gonna get raked no matter what she wears. It’s sad too that after the way she looked a couple of weeks ago during the Emmys, that there was almost no mention of her appearance, but you can bet this one will show up on the worst-dressed pages. It’s a shame really, and so cruel. I happen to like the way she looks. It’s cute and casual. Perfect for a day at the fair or just having fun.

You all know how I feel about the undeserved criticisms of Patricia Arquette. Don’t these people who feel they MUST say something about how she dresses have that favorite pair of jeans or shorts that they can’t manage to throw away???
Patricia works so hard during the week why can’t she just throw something on that she feels comfortable in and wear it when she goes out???
I think she looks fabulous and people should keep their negative comments to themselves.

Katelyn, I just read the last part of your post and I had to add something. You are so right about her. I love her individuality and her refusal to conform to the cookie cutter mold that most other Hollywood actresses cram themselves into just to get that multi-million dollar contract in that shallow movie that’s guaranteed to bust the box office wide open. But Patricia has never cared about that, and I admire her for it. She does parts that mean something to her besides a fat paycheck. I would love to see her getting those fat paychecks for the kinds of movies she does, because a lot of those are SO much better than those so-called tentpole pictures that have no substance and are carbon copies of so many others. Have you noticed how unoriginal most of the television and movies have become lately? Hollywood must be running our of ideas because they’ve remade almost every movie and tv show that’s ever been done.

Patricia is relaxing and having fun. Fashion critics need to back off. I love how sweet and soft she looks w/o any makeup on too. Her skin looks fresh, has a nice pink tone on her lips and cheeks, and her freckles are simply adorable.
The shirt and pants are fun. Critics just want to nag on her, because there is NOTHING to get her in the tabloids, as she is such a sweet and lovely person. That is why she is targeted for fashion, as tabloids dig for negative things, and this is the worst they can scrounge on her. SAD world!

I have to admit, when I saw that outfit, I thought what was she thinking? It is hideous and does nothing for her - I’ve never been big on the look of wearing a dress over pants - why not wear a dress or pants but not both together?
You can be comfortable and casual without looking ridiculous. We can all learn something from Stacy and Clinton on “What Not To Wear”. They have NEVER once suggested a woman should change her size or shape or individuality. They show each woman how best to dress to flatter her figure, whatever size she may be. They also go to great pains to show them how to dress for their own lifestyle and individuality, but in one that is socially acceptable and showcases their BEST features.
Unfortunately, Patricia Arquette is in the kind of business where she is photographed at public venues and events, and sometimes even on personal trips to the store or on play dates with her family - that is part and parcel of the job that goes with being in the entertainment industry. You know what they say - “there is no such thing as bad publicity.”
It’s a blessing and a curse that people notice her no matter what she is doing, but that is part of being in the public eye. One must learn to take the good with the bad, and from what I can see, Patricia handles it with grace and good manners.
It would be much worse if people no longer cared about her and stopped photographing her or mentioning her at all.

Plus, Patricia really does not care what fashion critics say about her. Good for her. Celebs who DO care what the media says about them have serious self esteem and self worth issues. There are too many of those around, while Patricia is a breath or fresh air, based in REALITY.
I think we all,a t times, can be caught leaving the house and shopping in not the best-fitting or stylish clothing, because it isn’t always important. Patricia has said that when she is not at red carpet events ans shopping, etc., she wears no makeup, her hair is a mess, and her clothes are frumpy.
