Do You Think Allison Would Rather Solve Old Crimes?
Do you remember Season Three’s Episode The Whole Truth? I was thinking the other day that it is one of the few episodes where Allison’s dreams led to the discovery of Bones. I think it would be less disturbing to dream about old crimes because the discovery of the body isn’t so gruesome, but at the same time it would be heartbreaking. After all, there is something very sad about someone dying somewhere and no one finding them until that long.
But knowing you are just a few minutes, hours, or days short of saving someone’s life seems much worse to me. What do you think?

Interesting question, Katelyn. Not sure about how I’d answer that one. It’s a tough situation either way you go, although I guess, as you said, it would be easier if it happened long ago and you knew that there was likely nothing you could have done to prevent it.

By finding and identifying someone’s body, it would give you a certain amount of satisfaction in knowing you have finally brought closure to someone’s family. What a nightmare for a parent or loved one to be suspended in that time warp of not knowing where their missing family member is or what happend to them. I saw this program once based on a true story - a woman who was well-liked was making her regular deliveries and disappeared. Many searches were conducted along her regular route in a rural area. Clues were followed and finally a psychic was brought in. Eventually, her body was found in a river or creek or something - she apparently had a heart attack which caused her to drive off the road and plunge down where she died. Even though searches had been done immediately after her disappearance, the terrain was such, they did not see her vehicle. It had been quite sometime after she originally disappeared to when she was eventually found, but at least the family knew that no foul play was involved.
On the other hand, when you help solve a current crime, the chances of bringing the perpetrator to justice are much better when foul play is involved. The longer it goes unsolved, the more evidence can disappear.
