With their usual nurturing attitude, NBC execs had decided that Medium didn’t need a full season and hadn’t ordered a full season of episodes. Luckily, they realized (for the 5th year in a row…) that Medium was a show with a big fan base and they were counting on a complete turkey of a show that didn’t pan out. (Bye, bye, My Own Worst Enemy.)

TV Guide thinks Medium will be replacing My Own Worst Enemy at the 10 pm EST Monday night slot in January. Guess I’d better get back to being a night owl!

By the way, have you seen My Own Worst Enemy? I don’t think I even caught a commercial about it and now it is already headed to the chopping block. Where have I been?

So, here’s the newest Medium related gossip from our friends at Entertainment Weekly -  We are waiting and waiting for the first episode of season five to appear on our screens. Medium actors and the crew are hard at work filming episode after episode. And someone else has nothing better to do than to show up in disguise, get a job as an extra and then cause so much trouble during a scene that they have to stop filming to remove him. Then, they find out the extra being a pain on the set is a professional pain - Sacha Baron Cohen of Borat fame. Seriously, can’t he go prank someone else’s show? We need our Medium episodes ASAP!

I’m pretty suspicious about the whole “news” because I would think that screening for extras would involve a close look at identification. What do you think? Did NBC/Universal set up the prank the way NBC set up the whole Deal Or No Deal Medium episode so that Medium would appear in Cohen’s new venture?

The first episode of Medium is so different from the way Medium is now. I enjoy taking a trip back in time to the way Medium started out. Although the biting humor doesn’t zing back and forth the way it does in later episodes, there are still some wonderful lines in this pilot episode.

One of the best moments is when Allison decides to break the sad news to Devalos that she is going to have to quit. She doesn’t just send him a gracefully worded letter of resignation. No, sir. That’s not her style. Allison marches right in and says she needs to quit because:

“I am apparently a little psychic or a little psycho.”

Seriously, isn’t that the best resignation ever? Luckily, it was a failed resignation because Devalos is no dummy and he knows a good thing when he sees it. Ah, how far we have come.

Ariel on drugs? It can’t be true. Can it? I mean, she wasn’t even really dating last season and couldn’t go to concerts and then there are rumors that they have her doing drugs this season! What do you think about this rumored story line?

EW has some breaking news for Medium Season Five. First off, it reports (sob) that Medium won’t be coming back until January. Rats. I hope EW is wrong, but it seems pretty likely to be true, since we’re already part way through November.

The good news is that Tracy Pollan will be doing a three episode appearance as a corporate intuitionist named Caitlyn. This may be where the new boss we,ve been hearing about comes in, since Caitlyn tries to recruit Allison for the corporation she is working for.

If you’re thinking “Tracy who?” you’ll probably remember her as Michael J. Fox’s wife. While Tracy hasn’t appeared in any tv shows recently, she seems to keep pretty busy with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and with caring for her family. She last appeared in 1st to Die, a 2003 made for tv movie.

Remember when Medium didn’t have a Scanlon? You don’t? Well, die hard Medium fans know he didn’t appear until Episode Three of Season One, entitled A Couple of Choices. During this episode, he is…well, a bit of a skeptic. You can tell he’s a skeptic by listening to his words for subtle clues.

For instance, in one delightful scene, he seems a bit unsure about whether he should believe Allison DuBois and Manuel Devalos. He expresses his uncertainty in a typical, laid back manner:

(points to Manny) “You’re insane.”

(points to Allison) “You’re insaner.”

I am sooo glad David Cubitt came to Medium.

Well, I’m just not into horror movies, so I didn’t watch The Haunting of Molly Hartley, even if it does star Jake Weber. However, I did find you a few reviews about the movie. (I guess there wasn’t a big premiere event. I was hoping for some good photos.)

Rotten Tomatoes absolutely slammed the movie, with 32 rotten tomato reviews and only one fresh tomato thumbs up.

Entertainment Weekly also panned Haunting.

You won’t want to miss the umm…more personal review of the movie from a reader over at Film Gecko.

Okay, so I guess the consensus of opinion is that you are wasting your $$ if you head to the theater to watch this one. I wonder if you can just ignore the plot and enjoy Jake Weber’s scenes or if it is just so gross that it even ruins the sight of Jake on the big screen?

Ariel, say it isn’t so! According to E Online’s spoiler chat, Ariel is doing drugs during season five. Less shocking is the revelation that Allison’s new boss isn’t what he seems. I mean, if he was a straight up guy with a legitimate job offer, Allison and Joe would have time to worry about something besides their careers. (Like their kid doing drugs!) Anyway, the good news is that this guy isn’t evil. The bad news is that he is involved with someone who is evil and that person…

I’d let you guess, but you never would. Not in a million years. So, I’ll just tell you.

That person finds out Allison is investigating and she ends up in danger. Okay, okay, you would have guessed. 

Anyway, all these spoilers make me want season five to start right now. Does Ariel get caught by her parents after experimenting once or is she doing drugs on a regular basis? I mean, I can’t imagine her as a dope fiend, can you? And here we were all thinking she was too sweet and innocent to have a serious boyfriend this season!

According to Total Buzz, Sutra Lounge was a wild place on election night. The place was packed with people, including Patricia Arquette, all keeping an eye on the 2008 election results. The bouncer said he never saw such an enthusiastic bunch. Apparently, despite a bit of maneuvering as people tried to see what was going down on t.v. in the overcrowded joint, they were all being excitable in a very polite way.

Don’t tell Patricia Arquette, but I was in bed by 8 last night and didn’t even find out the election results until 8 this morning. Good thing I’m not writing for a political blog!

Our big election news in Maryland is that we get legalized slots. Sigh. Have the people who plan these things actually been to Perryville? My bank is there and so is my favorite grocery store. It’s a bit of a mess now. I can’t imagine the fun I’ll have with even more traffic.
