Golden Globes are January 13th
In all the excitement about new Medium episodes, don’t forget the Golden Globe Awards. NBC will be airing a preshow hour long special and will be covering the whole Golden Globes excitement on January 13th. Hopefully, since they are starting the red carpet special at 7 p.m. EST and the Golden Globes end at 11 p.m. EST, there will be at least a few glimpses of Patricia Arquette. Last year, she was there with her sister, Rosanna.
I hope she looks fantastic. There was so much furor over some of last year’s choices for the Globes and the afterparty and I would love to see her on the best dressed list this year to make up for it. Remember these?

Katelyn, I thought she looked gorgeous at the Globes last year. That dress was beautiful and her hair was so chic. And the wrap gave it an elegant touch.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if she skipped the Globes this year because of the strike. She has shown a lot of support for the writers through the strike, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she refused to cross the picket line. I left a question and asked her that on the USA Weekend blog, but I don’t know if they’ll ask her. I may watch just to see if she’s there, but I don’t expect her to be. She hates those things anyway so it probably wouldn’t take much encouragement to get her to stay away.

I wonder when that USA Weekend interview will be, Dawn. I can’t wait to get some scoop on what’s going on in the Medium world.
As for the Golden Globes, I love watching award shows (even though they very rarely talk about any of the shows that I watch) and seeing all of the celebrities dressed up. I went to Hollywood a few years ago and loved the whole energy surrounding the place. But if Patricia and the other actors decide to skip it this year that would be fine with me. I support the writers and I am glad they do too. I just wish they would come to an agreement soon.

Dawn, I disagree about that dress and her hair in the above pic - that dress was an odd ball choice with the leather top and the fit wasn’t the best most flattering look for her body. The hair color was entirely too harsh for her pale skin. The hair style itself wasn’t so bad, but the color is too dark and harsh for her skin tone - her make-up was done way too dark - someone with her complexion should use softer colors - those dark colors and dark, dark eyes make her look older - in fact, for a while a lot of young stars were going for the “racoon look” eye make-up and frankly, it makes them look like tired hookers. There was another show - maybe it was the SAGs where she wore a much better dress. So far this year, the publicity shots that have been released show her with a much more flattering hair color and style and even her make-up is done very suble and shows off her features much better.

Holly, I’m with you about the writers. Now that we are in the New Year, they should be making the effort to get back together to discuss their differences and a resolution. Ihope they come to some agreement soon - have you seen NBC’s schedule for this Sunday? Two hours of American Gladiator - EEK! I’m just glad they moved Medium off of Sunday and back to Monday - maybe Miami CSI will be in all repeats and I think Wife Swap may be their competion on ABC - I hope a lot of new viewers will tune in and all of the old viewers will find Medium on Mondays!
Hey, can you guys believe it - TV Guide actually has Medium on the back cover for their issue the week of Jan 7 through 13! It’s on their “Hot List” - Whoa!

Betty, I loved the cut and fit of the dress on her, and the leather bandeau top made it edgy and chic. It was figure hugging, without being revealing or disproportionate. I think that the darkness of her hair was just because we rarely see the bottom of her hair, and it’s naturally darker underneath, whether it’s because of coloring or what. Her makeup wasn’t that dark either, imo.
I’m no style expert, but I thought she wore the look well and it looked great on her. I’ve seen that same dress on skinny models and it looked terrible on them because it didn’t flatter their figure. But I thought it really fit Patricia well. That’s just my opinion.
Holly, I’m not sure when that article will be done. I’m guessing it will be in this weekend’s edition of USA Weekend or maybe even Monday’s USA Today.

Betty, I’m excited that TVGuide is actually mentioning Medium again, but that’s all it amounts to. But when are we gonna see a feature on Medium? You would think with David directing again this season, and with Anjelica Huston guesting, that they would be all over it, but No. If it’s not those bimbos that they fawn over all the time, they don’t even notice it.

Dawn, I have to disagree about the dress, hair, and fit. The leather top was just inappropriate for the other material, and for someone who is height challenged as Patricia, having a dark top and horizontal gathering in the middle and a light bottom only makes her look shorter and a little dumpy. A halter type top would have been much more flattering to her current body type - in the pic, it looks like she is overflowing the top.
The look of her hair was not because we were seeing her darker roots - it was a really strange reddish brown color and not flattering for her pale skin or the color of that dress - that pewter type color isn’t very flattering for most people. There is a more recent pic of Patricia in a similar colored dress, but different style and she had a much more flattering hair color and make-up and she looks so much better! Those really dark lined eyes are not flattering to most women - there is a difference between a “smoky” eye and an eye ringed with black.
Sometimes on the show, I swear I don’t know what those wardrobe people are thinking with some of the outfits they put her in! That’s when a lot of people start speculating she is pregnant or fat - then you see her in another episode and she looks like she’s skinny again. The neckline, structure, seaming, and overall fit of an outfit really makes a difference in how good someone looks in it. With the right fit, fabric, and seaming, you can easily look 15 to 20 pounds thinner. Short people have to be especially careful. Since the camera adds 10 to 15 pounds, it’s especially important for people who are on TV to pay close attention to what they are wearing so they will be presented in the most flattering light.

Betty, I guess it’s a good thing then that she doesn’t care what people think then, because if she did, she would probably never leave the house. It’s a wonder any of the celebs are brave enough to leave the house at all because there’s always someone sitting there picking apart every detail of their appearance.
Here’s one of the things that I love the most about Patricia. She doesn’t care what people think about her appearance. She is comfortable in her own skin and is happiest when she is wearing something that she likes and feels good in. In the end, it doesn’t matter what we, or anyone else, think of her appearance. The only ones who matter are her and her husband, and if they’re happy with the way she looks, who are we to judge? I say, as long as she’s happy in her own skin, she’s beautiful no matter what she wears, what her hair looks like, or what her makeup looks like. But that’s just me. Maybe it’s because I feel the same way that she does and I hate trying to dress to please other people. I don’t care what they think, as long as I’m comfortable.

Well, it doesn’t look like we’ll have much to look forward to at the Golden Globes this year. According to this article on MSN, pretty much all of the nominated actors are refusing to attend, which would mean crossing the WGA picket line. I may watch just out of morbid curiosity to see how bad it is without nominees or presenters. Seems that most of the SAG members are refusing to show to either receive or present awards. I can hear the ‘THUD’ already as the ratings for that show hit the cellar floor. Lol.

Holly, that was fantastic!! I loved it!! Great job!! And the music was awesome.
Can’t wait to see your next one.
Katelyn, are we gonna do an Open Mic Nite for the season premiere?? I think this one calls for a special celebration, maybe something fancy.
Oh, for anyone who doesn’t know, and who lives the NYC area, Patricia will be on the Today show Monday morning, and she will be also signing autographs at the NBC store afterwards. Just FYI.

Dawn,
We are absolutely having an open mic on Monday. I wish I could get to New York Monday. I’ve heard from at least one fan who is going. If any of you decide to go, maybe you can put faces to names.
Holly,
Great job. I loved your last one, but this one is even better!

I’m going too, Katelyn. I am dying to see Patricia in person. I am sooo excited. I can’t decide which I’m more excited about, seeing Patricia, or Medium coming back.

I know what you mean. It sucks to have to work and miss all the fun stuff, doesn’t it? But this is a once in a lifetime chance I can’t pass up. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Going to New York would be great, but as I live in Indiana, that trip is just a little too long, even though this seems awesome. I’ve only been to New York once, and it required a plane ride.
Oh, the horrors of living in the middle of the country…

Holly, I feel your pain! I live on the Texas Gulf Coast and NY is much more than a day trip! Even if I were to fly, by the time I made the rather long trek to the airport, got through the security line, and made the flight, at least 1/2 of the day would be shot, maybe more.
Hopefully Tom and Dawn will report all the good stuff to us and share their picks, too.
Katelyn, for some reason, I’m not getting a number of posts to this even though I am subscribed to it?????
