I forgot his mom was such a stinker. I’ve never heard a cruise described quite like that!

No one does tortured like David Cubitt. Just the right body language. Just the right change of expression.

That has got to be the most touching lullaby ever and the arrest wasn’t too shabby, either.

Sorry you were having this discussion by yourself - I don’t have email at home.

LOVE Joe’s Dad, especially in this episode. He was very funny and it’s so nice to see him regret his past behavior with his wife. Very touching scenes!

Somebody should have nominated David Cubitt and Bruce Gray for supporting actor nods for this episode and Patricia, of course for lead actress - how sweet and touching was that lullaby scene?

This was a terrific episode in so many ways.

Allison’s heartbreak at discovering Scanlon wasn’t always “Mr by the book”. How great was he at expressing the anguish in his face when he was recounting the tale to Allison? The only thing he could have done differently that night was give the guy a ticket, but since the kidnapping was reported until a couple of hours later and the car probably was not reported stolen until the next day also, yet he carried that guilt with him. What a great job by the writers and David and Patricia! If you have or get the season 1 on DVD, you must listen to the commentary by Glen Gordon Caron and one of the producers on this episode.

Sorry I missed this one, Katelyn. I forgot about the Open Mic. I was actually watching the episode while I was working on my new Patricia Arquette group at Yahoo. I’ve started a group over there for fans of Patricia, so any who are interested are welcome to come over and join, and just chat about Patricia or her career,or Medium. All things Patricia, so to speak.

Here’s the link to the home page if you’re interested. Oh, Katelyn, I hope you don’t mind if I link to your blog over there.

Now back to this episode. I agree with you about Joe’s Mom, Katelyn. I loved what Allison calls her, “a smiling barracuda”. TOO funny. and Joe’ Dad is hilarious. But this episode is a perfect example of why season one ranks as my favorite of all of them. Because in this one we see Allison’s struggle to deal with her “gift” and her struggle with her conscience, and what to do with the information that she has because she knows that no matter what she does, someone’s not gonna be happy. Because either she turns in Scanlon, who is a good guy who did the wrong thing for the right reason, and a killer goes free. Or she lets a man sit in jail for a crime he didn’t commit, knowing that he deserves to be there anyway, and take a chance that he could get out anyway and still go free.
This is the kind of writing that really drew me to the show in the beginning and really made the show appealing to me, and I think a lot of people. But as she has gotten more comfortable with her abilities, she has gotten almost complacent, which is the only good thing that I think will come out of her being outed last season. I think she needs something to shake her up and give her back that edge that she had in the first couple of seasons. I liked seeing that conflict in the character and her struggle to deal with the dark side of abilities. I hope they bring back more of that in season four.
Maybe we could have a poll on what we think should happen in season four. Ya think?

    Betty and Dawn,
No problem - I just blogged all of the comments I usually make to the dogs. They seemed grateful not to have to act like they were listening.
    Dawn,
I’d be happy to have you link to the blog and I’ve put the link to the fan group in the blogroll, so hopefully you’ll get some signups. I think finding out what everyone thinks should happen in season 4 would be great, but the polls don’t let people add choices sometimes, so you may all be stuck with what I made up!

Thanks so much for that, Katelyn. I’d love to see you all over there. I’m hoping to make it an active group with discussions and the like. I’ve put up a bunch of photos, added a few links, and started a couple of polls of my own over there. Hopefully it will be enough to pique people’s interests and keep them there. Thanks again.
