Interview With Kim Stempien
I had a chance to interview Kim Stempien (She went by her nickname M.W. on Lifetime’s America’s Psychic Challenge) and I thought you would really enjoy hearing from someone who is a medium in real life.
1. When did you realize you were psychic? Did you realize you were a medium at the same time?
I wasn’t one of those kids who saw ghosts or other things, but I remember saying to myself when I was around 15 years old “I wish I could read minds”. I was very sensitive to the thoughts of others (to this day, I can’t work with others around me–corporate environments completely stress me out and I’ve worked in many!), but I wouldn’t necessarily say that I had some special “gift”. Years later, after earning a degree in engineering from Michigan State, I happened to read a book about Edgar Cayce and was intrigued by the idea of the collective consciousness and dreams. I then happened to run across a neat little book about developing dream recall.
After months of experimenting with dreams, I learned that we all dream our futures, pasts, and the dreams of others (the ‘collective’) each and every night. At that point, I realized that we are ALL psychic and possess this unique sixth sense–a sense that we’ve surpressed over the years thanks to a great deal of superstition, and the will of others who have convinced us that we need to follow *them* and not our own intuition.
This all happened in my 30’s and now that I’m in my 40’s, I’ve learned (on my own) where to access the Akashic Records (the collective consciousness), and also our higher selves (soul/spirit combo). In working with these components of our own “private universe”, we are more likely to glean wisdom from our experiences, and make better choices for ourselves (and the collective, of course).
“Mediumship” is just a natural extension of this work. Anyone can chat with the remnant consciousness of those who have passed over by simply “tuning” their attention to that frequency. We can also access the highest truth about our loved one’s lives (and the lives of just about anyone who has lived here on earth or beyond), by simply accessing the Records.
2. Do some people expect you to just turn on your gift like a lightbulb and tell them a winning lotto number?
Actually, people are pretty savvy these days about what psychics can and cannot do. Honestly, if I wanted to devote time and attention to picking winning lottery numbers, I (and just about anyone) can do so, but it is very difficult as seeing long strings of numbers requires a great deal of focus. Instead, I’ve developed many quick shortcuts and techniques for finding answers to the most common questions that we all ask ourselves and psychics too: (1) The outcome of romantic relationships, (2) life path choices, and of course (4) money issues.
Can you explain how being a Medium really works?
The technique that I use is simple. First, always connect to the Akashic Records first by imagining a cord extending from the top of your brain to a ball the size of your skull positioned exactly 4 feet above your head. Next, imagine the person who is asking about a relative/friend/famous person standing in front of you, then simply ask that the person in question come forward. Father/male figures will always appear over the person’s left shoulder (your right as you face them facing you), and mother/female figures will appear over their left (your right as you face them). Each male/female figure will then appear over right/left shoulders of those individuals who come forward in a family tree configuration. Then, just describe the person who comes forward, and start asking questions. It’s that easy, and honestly, ANYONE can do it.
I also have some readers who’ve posted questions about doing this ‘work’ on our free blog at www.precognito.com. I welcome any questions whatsoever from those who are interested in trying this out. It’s fun, and it really makes travel to historic places very fun as many “spirits” (I call them echos or “remnant consciousnesses” of those who have passed on) will come forward if asked.
3. Is Patricia Arquette’s portrayal of mediumship on the show Medium pretty realistic?
To a certain extent, yes. When I was doing unsolved crime work (just for fun and practice) many years ago, I would regularly be visited by individuals who had been murdered in my dreams. Once you open your consciousness to such things, you create an open “channel” for just about anyone to come forward in your dreams. The only problem is, these individuals are oftentimes difficult to attach to an actual crime as they can come from anywhere in the world.
I remember years ago dreaming about a young, professional woman who had been kidnapped somewhere in Boston who showed me her murder, the motive for the crime, and the murderer himself (even gave me his name) in one of my dreams. She also showed me that her body had been hacked up and put in plastic bags (very shocking indeed, but these types of dreams truly do not bother me). Unfortunately, finding out exactly who this person was is next to impossible as police databases are not connected, and do not have a search function that allows authorities to input data about the victim, then come up with a name, date, time, etc. So, I simply shut down that channel as it is really impossible (at this time) to follow-up with these dreams. In that sense, the show “Medium” is fictitious to a certain extent.
However, if you begin with a specific crime, it is possible to dream about the details of it by simply intending to do so before one goes to bed. An even easier approach is to access the Akashic Records, and replay a mini-movie of what happened from the point a person disappeared. Like I said, anyone can use these techniques.
4. How hard was it to do Lifetime’s America’s Psychic Challenge?
The challenges were actually pretty simple and doable, but the problem was being crammed into a van for 15 and 18 hour days with individuals who practice a great deal of “black” magic. These are individuals who have been “banned” in a sense from the Akashic Records because they abused them in the past, so they’ve had to make up for it by inviting entitites (their favorite description is “angels and guides” so as to disguise the ‘evil’ and manipulative) nature of these entities.
I’ve never, ever encountered such tricks in my life and was really attacked in the second episode! (”Shapeshifting” is what was used on me along with various attacks and threats from individuals (verbal and non-verbal) and their so-called “angels”.) But wow! What a great learning experience, and I think I was supposed to go through what I did (rather blindly) so that I could accelerate my learning at the Records level.
Plus, we were so heavily directed to do things we wouldn’t normally do, and it really threw me (and others) off course. In the future, I won’t do any shows like that as I feel they really don’t showcase the profession well, and I have to say, I know a few individuals in this ‘profession’ who are quite spectacular at what they do.
It seemed like they wanted everyone in the challenge to specialize in everything. Don’t most psychics have certain gifts that manifest more strongly than others?
I’m personally pretty good at pet psychic, relationship, money/career, & mediumship stuff, but I DESPISE finding things (I hate it when people ask me to find their missing wedding rings or other valuables and tend not to answer those questions).
I’m not sure I like the word “gift” as ESP or psychic ability, in my experience, is a natural sense (the sixth sense as they call it) is inherent in everyone of us. We can sharpen it simply by practicing. So, if I were to stage some of those challenges and practice at them a little, they could be mastered by me and just about anyone.
5. What is the funniest thing that happened to you because of being a psychic medium?
Well, I guess the oddest thing is that I now have a worldwide magazine on newsstands about this subject–I never would have imagined it, honestly (so, there goes the so-called “law of attraction” crap which I simply don’t believe and have never seen in action all these years). Beyond that, one specific thing that comes to mind is when I was looking to buy a house in Italy. I found several properties on my realtor’s website and had one particular house in mind. I thought that if the house looked half as good as it did in the picture, I’d buy it (it looked to be a real bargain!) But, I kept seeing that I would buy “two houses”, not just one on that trip. However, I only had funds to buy one property. When I visited the house, I loved it, and told the realtor that I would make an offer on it that day. Just as we were about to leave she said “Oh, I forgot to tell you that the adjacent house is also included in the deal!” So, I now own two houses in Italy–two houses for the price of one.
6. Do you have a favorite memory?
Actually, I just saw Hillary Clinton in Fort Wayne Indiana last Saturday, and I have to say that it was probably the most memorable day of my life so far. Never before have I had so much faith in one person, and I can see that her heart is really connected to the heart of this country. I can also “see” that she’s the best man for this job and will steer the country in the right direction.
7. Can you give some advice to readers who think they may have a psychic gift?
Everyone has a psychic sense (the “sixth sense”) that can easily be developed and used to one’s advantage. The key is to not second-guess yourself and don’t accept what others say as the absolute “truth”. Constantly use the Akashic Records to test outcomes and the truth behind what you see and hear on TV, the radio and in print. The same goes for the content of Precognito Magazine. Try all the visualizations and keep yourself connected to the Records at all time to make sure you’re living a life of truth.
Also, do not be seduced into following so-called guides, angels and masters. We don’t know who these entities are, and have much more power and knowledge than they will ever have. These entities are nothing more than leeches interested in stealing our power. Individuals who use them for their “work” should not be trusted!
