Jake Weber Needs a Nap
I thought this was kind of funny. Some Medium fans were discussing Jake Weber and one of them said:
Tags: Jake Weber, joe-dubois, MediumBut back to the original show and person mentioned. I didn’t know that guy was British but now that it has been mentioned you can hear it some. Does his character ever get any sleep? I mean every night she’s waking him up about some vision or dream she’s had.

Personally, I don’t think he speaks with a British accent in his normal voice because when I have seen him in on-set interviews, he speaks the same way he does on the show. Hugh Laurie of House and Mark (can’t remember his last name) from Still Standing are both British and always speak with their British accents when giving interviews and when not on their shows.
I read somewhere that he (Jake) was born in England, but his family left when he was very young, so he doesn’t have an English accent. Just like David Cubitt being born in England - his father is British and his mother is Dutch - but his family moved to Vancouver when he was a baby, so he does not have an accent.
Anyway, back to Jake needing a nap - for a man, he does seem to wake rather easily when Allison wakes up with a start from her dreams - most men can sleep through a lot while Moms always wake up to the sound of their child crying or something being wrong with a child. Men, on the other hand, are dead to the world.

That’s funny, because over at imdb, you wouldn’t believe the debates that have been going on for months about whether or not he has an accent. Some people say they can hear it, but I don’t. But I read something funny that Jake himself said once about his accent. He said most of the time, he doesn’t think he has one, but “give me a couple of drinks and I sound like I’m just off the boat”.
I thought that was hilarious. But I’m sure the poor guy could really use a nap. I bet he’d just love to go to work and lock himself in his office and sleep the day away. And he does seem to wake up rather easily, as Betty said. His wakeups are almost as funny as Allison’s. The best one was in Head Games, when she woke up at the beginning and he was pissed. It was almost a perfect parody of the MadTV parody of Medium. If you haven’t seen that, it may still be up on youtube. Check it out, and then watch that episode again. It’s hysterical after you watch that video.

He appears in my favorite movie ever, “Dangerous Beauty”. Watch it and you can hear his beautiful accent.

I’m so late for this discussion (sorry) but, I had to chime in. Hi, to everyone BTW.
This is my favorite topic because (Dawn knows) I absolutely ADORE the way Jake Weber speaks. Thinking about it… well, I would go there, but this is a family forum.
Jake has an accent. I’m not a world traveler or a phonetics expert, but I can hear a slight British tone. Now, just as coffee beans are used to clear the olfactory palate when smelling scents, I believe by virtue of my inundation of southern drawl speech patterns, I am uniquely qualified to distinguish a British accent. Oh I forgot to talk about the nap subject. Forgive me. I got a little worked up on the accent thing.
Yes, Joe is tired and needs a nap. But he is a superhero and they require little sleep. He can still crunch the concepts of mathematical quantum physics at work, help his spouse solve crimes in the middle of the night, fiercely protect his family while looking sexy and keeping his sense of humor.

If you like his accent, check out the RBS (Royal Bank Of Scotland) TV commercials. I believe that he is the voiceover announcer at the end. On those, he does a little Scottish accent.
