Medium Star Maria Lark on Jay Leno

I saw this interview of the adorable Maria Lark on Jay Leno a while back before I took over this blog…I found this picture and this description of it on Maria Lark.com:

So I was watching Jay Leno today (right now, in fact), and he had on a child actor from the TV show “Medium” (you know, the one with Patricia Arquette aka The Arquette that isn’t retarded). The girl’s name is Maria Lark, and I’m not sure how old she is, but she looks anywhere from 6 to 8. I’m leaning towards 8, but maybe 7.

The point is, this girl was rattling on like she was 30 years old. Basically she had grown so fast that she doesn’t even realize she never had a childhood. To watch this little girl throwing out jokes and making small talk like a seasoned pro, I kept grimacing in discomfort. The curious thing was that everyone in the audience was eating it up; they were clapping, as if marvelling how a girl so young could act like she was already 30.

That’s Hollywood for you. Someone like Maria Lark is considered “precocious” in Hollywood; in the rest of the world, the real world, she’s grown up too fast and has been deprived of a childhood.

Let’s just hope the poor girl doesn’t end up in a laundrymat with a ski mask over her face and a gun in her hand when she discovers, much to her horror, that precocious only works when you’re 7 going on 30, but not so much when you’re no longer cute and blonde.

1 opinion for Maria Lark on Leno

Apparently, the person who has made these comments doesn’t understand the dynamics of children these days. I have two children, both of whom are extremely intelligent..(and I am not trying to embellish this). My three year old, is hilarious, and can hold a conversation with an adult. My older daughter who is 6, sounds and acts like she is is 16. I believe that society and schools expect more from the children today, and that explains Maria’s maturity. I do not agree that she is missing out on her childhood either. You can tell, when she is on tv that she is a character of her own right, and she isn’t acting. She is just an overall crack-up. If I ventured a guess, I think that her entertaining personality comes from the stars, not a telepromptor.
