Medium Episode 4.03 “To Have and To Hold” Recap
Well, maybe we’re watching a different show than some of these people are or maybe we look for something very different than they do in a tv show, because I thought To Have and To Hold was awesome and some of the recaps and reviews I found were very unhappy with the episode.
NBC still is doing recaps, which is super nice and continues to provide full episodes online, too.
Starpulse really didn’t like this episode and called it lackluster. Among the objections is one that I do agree with - Devalos really does add a nice balance to the show. However, Starpulse needs to remember that the whole storyline for these episodes revolves around the fact that Allison is thrown rudderless into the big, bad world and doesn’t have him to turn to for guidance and reality checks.
PopWatch had a great recap of the episode - you can tell she gets Medium completely and she was very funny. I personally think she should always write recaps of Medium when she is high on cold medicine.
TVGuide has a recap that talks a bit about the music on the recent episodes. Apparently, a sibling has the same taste. Some of the great lines we loved are mentioned, as well.
TVSquad has a recap of this episode, as well. There’s an interesting bit of trivia, too, so it is worth reading!

Katelyn, ITA with you. Some of these people must not be watchign the same show that we are, or else they have incredibly different expectations for the show. But a lot of the reviews that I’ve read have been very good, except for the one at Starpulse. I loved the one at Popwatch (she is a hoot!) and at TV Squad. I totally missed the bit about the corkscrew and True Romance. But then I always miss stuff like that, lol. Another great episode, as usual, and it’s nice to see that it’s actually getting some attention from the entertainment sites. Last season, EW barely even acknowledged that it was on the air, and now they’re doing reviews, which are actually pretty good. This is great for the show.
Oh, did you see the NBC press release about the ratings for this episode? I posted it earlier, but I think it got lost in the spam filter. According to the FutonCritic, this was NBC’s highest rated Monday night since the beginning of this season in fall, and it was Medium’s highest rated show since last January, and it was the “most-watched” Medium since May of 2006. Wow!

I really enjoyed the reviews - thanks for posting those links. The Starpulse reviewer did have some very complimentary things to say as well. It’s so nice to see people taking a bigger interest in Medium and I’m very happy the ratings are up and consistent so far - I hope the 4 week lag time now doesn’t hurt that momentum.
