Medium Episode Be Kind Rewind Rerun Open Mic

by Katelyn on February 3rd, 2008

Wow, didn’t we just see Be Kind, Rewind recently? I wonder why they’re showing it again tonight? Well, if you haven’t seen it yet or want to watch it again, it is up on Lifetime tonight at 11 pm EST.

This is the episode where Allison has to do the whole day over and over until it turns out right. Of course, it isn’t a day filled with joy and laughter. That would be fun. No, it is a lousy day and it keeps being a lousy day every time she relives it.

I’m afraid I’m about televisioned out after a rousing Super Bowl game that I didn’t really want to watch (I can barely muster enthusiasm to watch 5 minutes of the Ravens running around with a little ball and knocking each other over, let alone hours of play by teams that don’t even play here…) and I’m too full to eat another bite. However, the good news is that I have a ton of snacks left over for you. Shrimp, assorted veggies and dip, chips and fresh guacamole and an assortment of sodas, coffee and tea are all on the menu tonight.

Anyway, enjoy the snacks, feel free to chat away and I’ll try to stay awake and join in!

    You can’t make me go.
Yeah, you can. I’m your mother. They gave me permission at the hospital when I had you.

Someone thinks you’re hot? I thought you had to be smart to get in the 8th grade.

    So typically family, isn’t it?

Ariel’s scene deserves a supporting actress award. Sofia really did a good job. And so did Maria, without even saying a word. She has such an expressive little face.
Of course, we all thought Jake Weber should have gotten an award for this scene, too. They all did a terrific job.

That is my favorite Medium scene of all time. I bet the telemarketer hung up and got his resume out to update it and started hunting for a new job.

    Hey,

I know this comment doesn’t have much to do with the above, but I wasn’t sure how else to leave a message. I found this website (below) which has a nice pic gallery of Patricia Arquette (new and older pics) and I thought it be a nice addition to your blog.

One of my very favorite eps of Season 3! I have watched it dozens of times! We got a bunch of Scanlon - I can tell you the first time when Scanlon was shot just took my breath away before I screamed, “NO!”

Really great episode for so many reasons!

I am proud to say I didn’t watch a minute of the Super Bowl, nary a second either. TNT had a “The Closer” marathon and I watched that until Medium came on. Good stuff!

I have told you all many times how much I loved this episode, but after watching the Super Bowl, like Katelyn, I was all televisioned out. And I wasn’t in the mood for a marathon of anything last night. But this is probably one of the top two or three eps from season three (you know which one is my favorite). All of the actors did a fantastic job in this one, particularly Patricia and Jake and Sofia. the scene in the hospital room was especially effective by Jake and Sofia. And the scene when Allison dicovers that she’s “lost” her legs was incredible work by Patricia. But the telemarketer scene had to be the best one of the entire ep. Like Katelyn, I bet that guy hung and immediately started looking for a new career. I know I wouldn’t want that job after someone talked to me like that. I know there have been many times that I wanted to tell off a telemarketer like that (and who hasn’t). I think everyone who saw that scene was cheering her on, lol.

David Cubitt has some of the best lines in the whole show - hats off to David for the scene in Devalos office when Allison, quite annoyed - tells Devalos that “Scanlon had the perp yesterday, but let him go!” He had the PERFECT quizzical expression on his face! “What?” And again in the restaurant - “Allison, I didn’t speak see you yesterday. Yesterday never happened. That yesterday was a dream”. Then later in the same scene, Allison, “Did you hear that?” then Scanlon, “Yeah, I’m not a big fan of the goat cheese, but you go right ahead.” Too funny how he deadpanned those lines so perfectly!

Katelyn, “Twice in a Lifetime” I think that was the name of the ep, was the last one of season 2, so if they are showing them in order as they have been recently, then I believe “Be Kind Rewind” was the ep that would have originally started Season 3, but then the net decided they should have a two parter, so they put “Four Dreams” in first as a bigger splash. If you notice the dialogue in “Ghost in the Machine”, Scanlon is not speaking to Deputy Doll because of the rift they had in “Four Dreams”, but in “Be Kind Rewind” he and Allison make several references to him having a lunch date with “a certain someone in the Mayor’s office” and Allison cancelling his date with her and telling him “she’ll understand” so then he invites Allison to lunch.
