Medium Recap: Apocalypse, Push
I am still having waaay too much fun yakking with you guys during the show on Open Mic Night to liveblog it. Here is an excerpt of TVSquad’s review to quench your thirst for a recap:
Ya know, if there is one thing I am a sucker for with TV shows it’s episodes like this. I love the call back to earlier episodes. Things that reward the regular viewer. Captain Kenneth Push of the Texas Rangers returning to Medium once again is just such an event. Full article
I LOVED this episode. Captain Push as a psychic? Oh the irony. And then of course he isn’t. Joe tells a lie. Captain Push tells a lie. Bridgette is confused. We did not see much of Devalos and Scanlon but we did get more of the family. And Marie speaks! “Me three.” Heh.
The Two-Minute Replay is not up yet at NBC/Medium. What’s up with that? Don’t they know we THIRST for all things Medium? Edit: It’s up now!

Yea! I thought this was a PERFECT episode! I loved the way it ended, too. So perfect. Although we could have used a bit more Scanlon, at least he was dispersed throughout the ep in little snippets.
Anyone else think Scanlon looked a tad bit jealous at Captain Push in the that room when he said, “Captain Push I’ll buy you a cup of coffee”?
The stuff with Joe and Bridget was hysterical! I knew the minute he said “no, never” he was lying and she so knew! Her looking through his sock drawer? Too funny!
Absolutely LOVE Captain Push!
Thankfully only one small snippet of Tina DiJoseph (Lynn). I groaned when I saw her name as a guest star.
Everything else was great!
Sheila, I had the same thought about Captain Push and the chilli! Usually it’s no food or water after midnight, but still, chilli isn’t exactly easy on the digestion.
I was wondering how Captain Push was going to save things all drugged up - yea Allison!
Next week looks so great - any spoilers yet Sheila?

I also loved this episode. I was curious how they were going to explain Captain Push having dreams, but I thought they handled it very well. The whole episode had me guessing right up to the end, and I liked that Allison had the last dream and figured everything out. I also loved the story with Joe and Bridget, and I had a feeling when she started asking him about drugs that that was what he was going to lie about. I liked the discussion Joe and Allison had after Allison talked to Bridget. That’s what I love about this show. The characters are so real and relatable and the stories are believable, even with the supernatural elements. I am REALLY looking forward to next week’s show. It looks like another great one. Some really juicy material for both Patricia and Jake to sink their teeth into. If this is as good it looks, this one could be Patricia’s Emmy nomination episode(fingers crossed). She definitely deserves another one.

No spoilers yet. I already know I am going to love that episode. Patty gets to show her acting chops. Well, more than usual!

Sheila,
Just wanted to ask you what you think of all these ratings numbers and what they mean for our show. This week’s numbers were the worst ever and now with “Lost” back on, it’s got me worried. Do you think it’ll be able to hold on against “Lost”?
And when is NBC going to make a decision about renewing it? The suspense is killing me. Any way you can get some dirt for us?
Oh, speaking of dirt, just wanted to share a little teaser I just found. Eric Stoltz will be guesting in a couple of weeks playing an escaped serial killer out for revenge against the person who put him away; Allison Dubois. I can’t wait for that one either. Oh, and he’s psychic too!
Looks like some really great material for Patricia to sink her teeth into. Maybe this will be her year for another Emmy(fingers crossed).

Yay! I really enjoyed the episode this week. Captain Push has always been a favorite of mine, so I love it when he makes an appearance. He was having the dreams! And then the story with Bridgette and Joe. That was fun to watch play out. One thing though: why didn’t Bridgette know Captain Push was lying about his dad? That bugged me. All in all, great episode and I’m looking forward to next week.
Interesting spoiler Dawn. Sound like even more excellent episodes to come for Medium. I, too, have my fingers crossed for an Emmy with some of the ones coming up and some of the stuff we’re already seen.
Did Medium really do that poorly this week? Shame, real shame. I hope they bounce back soon!

Hey, Holly
Like you, I also thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode. I love Captain Push. The story with Bridget and Joe was fun to watch. I especially liked the conversation Allison and Joe had in the bedroom when she told him “You can’t lie to THESE kids.” I liked that she mentioned her own childhood and I can’t wait to see more of that coming up. About Bridget and Captain Push; I think that the reason she didn’t know he was lying was because she, like Allison, doesn’t always ’see’ everything, just bits and pieces, and the reason she knew Joe was lying was because she had already ’seen’ him smoking dope. JMO.
Yes, Medium did have a poor rating this week as compared to last week, which was its highest of the season. But I’m hoping that “Lost”, if all the gossip is true, is headed downhill, and that it won’t be as big a threat to “Medium” as everyone thought it would.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that, and for Patricia to win another Emmy this year. She definitely dserves it. And Jake Weber. Somebody give that man an award, PLEASE!

Ooh, exciting spoilers! I don’t have any of my own to share. Sorry.
Another possibility of the Bridgette/Capt. Push conversation is that she DID know he was lying. She paused quite some time at the end when he asked her if she understood what he was telling her before she said, “I think so.” Maybe she was thinking about the moral of his story and putting it all together. Ya never know.
February is sweeps and it looks like they have lined up some excellent episodes for us!
To be honest about ratings, I don’t really look at them. If I like a show, I watch it. If it goes away, I am very sad. That is the extent of my ratings knowledge. :)

Eric Stoltz is a nice piece of casting. Looking forward to that. As far as the ratings go, I wouldn’t worry too much about the performance this week. That Lost would almost count as a premiere given that they have been off so long, so the numbers are inflated somewhat. And the show has been steadily losing viewers for over a year now. I don’t think Medium is going to suddenly start beating Lost or anything, but once things settle, I expect it to hold its own. I really wish it could air Monday after Heroes though.

Did you know Eric Stoltz was originally cast in Michael J. Fox’s role in Back to the Future? He was fired a few weeks in when they didn’t like the dailies, or so I heard. What a different movie THAT would have been.
Brett’s right, Lost WAS essentially a premiere. I forgot about that. I concur about wanting Medium to go back to Mondays. Wednesdays still has me all discombobulated.

Which episode had Joe dreaming he couldn’t find Bridget while shopping in a store?
My daighter recalls this, and son do I, but she couldn’t locate it on the DVD sets.
