Medium Review - Heads Will Roll

by Katelyn on May 10th, 2007

two.jpgBrett over at TV Squad has a review of Heads Will Roll up. He mentions that the Deal or No Deal segment kind of interfered with the flow of the show. He’s right, but I love Deal or No Deal, so I didn’t mind too much.

What did you think, though? Was the segment too cross promotional? Useless? Spectacular?

I agree about the DoND segment. It didn’t really have much to do with the story other than exposing Debra as the betrayor. And since it had already been up at NBC for weeks, it wasn’t anything new. They did shorten it a little, but it still went on too long considering how little it had to do with the story. It was a shameless act of self-promotion on the part of NBC and I hope that the producers of Medium will refrain from such gimmicks in the future, as it did nothing to help the ratings, and only dampened a great storyline.

That being said, it was fun to see Allison doing something fun for once, and I loved the way Patricia played it. It looked like she was having a great time doing that. I like DoND, but not in the middle of my Medium.

Note to GGC: No more shameless cross-promotional gimmicks. No matter what the networks say. It only makes you look cheap.

When the President of NBC calls GCC, I don’t think it’s really a choice to do what is asks - I think it’s more of a command.

Anyway, I don’t watch D or ND, so I thought it went on too long as well, although it was very well done. Very clever way to work it into the story, though, you must give props to the writers for that!

I’m with Brett wondering where Walter Paxton was last night? I still think he has something to do with these murders - he just looks evil!

They could have left DiNovi on the cutting room floor and given Scanlon one more scene with dialogue even.

I’m ready for Debra or PD or whatever she calls herself this week to be offed already. Then we can all say, “nanny nanny boo boo, told you so!”

Wasn’t Joe’s boss wicked with that bonus and waiver he wanted signed? Oh by the way………..so you can’t sue us EVER for anything - enjoy your bonus or should I say “guilt money”?

Wow, I must say that last night’s episode was really good. I liked seeing Joe’s dad again, and it seemed to really get him back to normal–we finally had the old Joe and Allison back!!

And then Joe had to make a decision between being part of a lawsuit against his company or not. Difficult choice, I wonder what he will choose.

I kept screaming at the television for Allison to just stop talking to Debra (I was right, she is the reporter we heard about in “We Had a Dream“), but it seems that she wasn’t listening, because she went and blabbed everything. She certainly has created a rather large problem for herself and those around her. I just can’t wait for next week to see what happens next (but it’s the season finale :( )

I agree that the DoND scene was completely pointless. I kept waiting for them to get back to the real story. I guess if I hadn’t already scene the thing it would have been better, but still, they could have used that time better.

As far as Walter Paxton goes, I didn’t miss him, though I do believe that he is the Recapitator.

Next week’s preview looks really good!

I completely agree with Brett’s comments. I thought the episode was great! I can’t wait till next Wednesday. I loved the part with Joe and his father, but didn’t like the DoND junk. I remember thinking, They’re not really going to have Allison shout out every single increment of money, are they? OMG.

I also wondered why Paxton was MIA. I guess he’ll end up being the Recapitator (love that name) since they haven’t presented us with any options other than Debra herself, Allison, Joe, Scanlon, Devalos, Deputy Doll, or one of the kids. They could throw in someone new, I suppose …

My dream ending is for Debra to get decapitated for being such a wench to Allison. Then, have Scanlon and Deputy Doll get in a fight, she goes to stay in a hotel for the night, and her room just happens to be next door to Debra’s. I think you all know where I’m going with this. Deputy Doll’s head on Debra’s body works for me. Alas, I doubt they’ll kill either of them. *sigh*

I like the new Medium Dreams site design!

How could I forget to mention: That black and white scene with Scanlon was hot! David Cubitt would have been perfect as a detective in one of those old film noirs from the ’40s.

Also, this was pretty funny–My local NBC news affiliate was unintentionally (I assume) humorous with one of their graphics at the bottom of the screen (which ordinarly drive me nuts). The graphic promoted a story they were going to run after the show titled something like, “How to Alleviate Headaches.”
