Medium Spoiler: Very Merry Maggie (MED-047)

by Sheila on January 23rd, 2007

Episode Name: Very Merry Maggie
Episode Number: 047 (3.09)
Air Date: January 31, 2007, Wed. 10/9c
MED-047 Summary | All Episodes

EVEN ALLISON IS SPOOKED BY HER LATEST ADVERSARY — A DEMONIC DOLL URGING IT’S YOUNG OWNER TO KILL — If dreams of child abuse weren’t disturbing enough, Allison becomes spooked by a young boy’s doll, who seems to have urged it’s owner to kill. Meanwhile, with project deadline looming, Joe becomes concerned about his health.

Okay, I am already more than a little freaked out by this episode. I never could bring myself to watch The Chucky Movies with the killer doll that walked and talked and looked like a psycho Howdy Doody.

And what is this about Joe’s health, please? We already had ‘the mole that looked like Australia and could be cancer‘ scare. Now what? Grr.

Well this one certainly sounds like my cup of tea…I’ll have to make sure and catch it!

Oh gosh, I hate scary movies. Medium is about as scary as it gets for me. I might be up for a little bit more on the edge of your seat, sure to cause nightmares episode, though. As for me, I’m more concerned about the B story (because The Whole Truth had none) and Joe’s health problems. Definitely means more screen time for him–I just hope he’ll be fine!

    Holly:
I don’t like scary movies, either. That must be why I TiVo and watch Medium on Saturday morning. Some episodes so give me the hibee jibees. I couldn’t imagine trying to fall asleep right after watching.

    Sheila:
I’m not into scary dolls either (or clowns for that matter). Poltergeist kept me from watching just about any other scary movie until I was in my late 20s.

I read in a posting on the TV Guide site that Jake Weber (Joe) is unhappy with his part. He feels he is nothing more than a foil for Allison and someone to pour cereal. According to the poster, he wants this to be his last year. Perhaps this is the writers way of setting something up for later? Season ending cliffhanger maybe?

Of course, this would please me to no end since this would leave it open for them to hook Scanlon and Allison up - think of the story possiblities! If it’s true that David Cubitt (Scanlon) married a widow in real life with 5 kids, this would somewhat mirror real life. Sounds like he is a really great guy, but there are bound to be bumps in the road for anyone taking that on, no matter how great they are. Great scenes to play for Allison and the girls - I can hear Emmy noms already.

I was shocked last year during the season finale of “Close to Home” when they killed off Annabeth’s husband by having him hit by a drunk driver. I don’t watch the show all the time, only occasionally, but later read the actor who played the husband was unhappy because he was only in a handful of episodes. This season they brought in the guy from “Jag” as her new boss. Of course, he’s unattached. I don’t know I’d mind so much not having a lot to do as long as I was being paid - a job’s a job, but I guess some people feel it’s beneath them.

Ack! I would hate to see Joe go. Glenn Gordon Caron has said the show is really about the normalcy of the DuBois home life juxtaposed against the craziness of Allison’s visions and the horrible crimes she sees. I have made inquiries and will let you know what I find out.

Well, the Medium publicist has officially put the kibosh on me. No personal information about the stars will be forthcoming.

Saddle up, we’ll have to go around. If only I knew where the secret entrance is this would be so much easier.

Damn! I really wanted to see this one, but it’s opposite the finale of Top Chef! Damn!

The publicist “put the kibosh” on you? Just regarding Mr. Weber’s situation, or about any questions whatsoever?

JCW: She is happy to answer any questions I have about the show but she will not pass on any personal questions to “the talent.” This is after I sent her a list of questions for David Cubitt, which she emailed back to say she had forwarded on. I am guessing Cubitt (or his people) didn’t like it (he is a rather private guy) and she got yelled at. She did not say so but that is the only reason I can think of why she would tell me she forwarded it and then later tell me she would not be able to help me with “personal” questions. One of those “personal” questions was “Where can fans send David Cubitt fan letters?”

After she emailed to say she had forwarded the Cubitt questions on, I thought, ‘Great, those kinds of questions are okay’ (you know, assuming she had actually READ them) so I next asked about the Jake Weber rumor and also about Patricia canceling her late night talk show appearances. That’s when I got the kibosh phone call.

The bottom line I finally got to at the end of the conversation was that anything she could possibly tell me can be found on the website. No exclusives. No sneak peeks. No behind the scenes info.

That’s incredibly helpful, don’t you think? This is after the PR firm that handles the website contacted me a few weeks ago to say, “Hey you lucky person, I can provide you with several Medium links to help make your blog more exciting.” The links were to 1) the NBC/Medium main website I already link to, 2) the video page on the NBC/Medium website I already utilize when I tell people a new video is up, and 3) something else I can’t remember right now but I ALREADY KNEW ABOUT IT which anyone would know if they actually read this blog and took five minutes to check out the sidebars before contacting me.

I am incredibly frustrated right now. A tiny voice in my head is whispering, “Why do I bother?”

Why would she tell me to feel free to contact her with questions about the show if she just said she wouldn’t be able to provide any information that isn’t already available on the website? WhyWhyWhyWhyWhyWhyWhyWhyWhy?

Can we just try the fan letters question again? Surely they are not against fan letters???????
