No Medium at Comic-Con?

by Katelyn on June 26th, 2008

I hope it is just an oversight, but so far, I see no mention of Medium at this year’s comic-con. Say it isn’t so. Comic-Con is such a no brainer way for NBC to generate some buzz about an awesome show.

I will hold my breath until I see a mention of Medium on the panel schedule. (No, not literally. It would be too hard to hold my breath and yell, “Noooo, not the [insert costly and rare item here].” as Gus tries to devour yet something else. I think this puppy is made entirely of teeth. Sharp, pointy, powerful teeth that will eat everything ever created. Today the new shoes and the cute old stool, tomorrow the world.)

Anyway, I really hope they are going to be sending some Medium representatives to Comic-Con. We have an actor’s strike looming ominously in the background and I want to enjoy every last second of no strike Medium coverage. Can you imagine television with two strikes in a row? With shows like Baby Borrowers and some kind of crazy Asian game show being what they come up when there are actors and writers, what will they offer us if the actors strike? Hmm. I think we have a post idea here. Who wants to email me their insane ideas for reality shows?

Here’s mine:

”Watch me eat” is an exciting new reality show that goes into school cafeterias and shows us real kids eating lunch. Boo as they flick food and chew with their mouths open. Cheer as one child actually wipes his mouth with a napkin. Gasp in horror as a boy spills his milk. Each week, you, dear viewer, will vote on the worst of the worst. Don’t miss the finale! The grossest eater will walk away with free etiquette lessons from Miss Manners herself and will fly to London to visit the Queen for lunch after the lessons are complete. Will he disgrace America or will he awe the Queen with his extensive knowledge of cutlery? There’s only one way to find out!!

Come on, Katelyn. Have you ever known NBC to take advantage of an opportunity to promote Medium? Especially at something as big as Comic-Con. Patricia “might” be there, but not because of NBC. Since her husband is a huge fan of comics and attends almost every year (especially since he’s promoting another new movie this year), it’s almost a sure bet that he’ll be there. So she may be there to support him, but not because of any forethought on the part of NBC.

    Dawn,
Yes, I’m sure she’ll be there to support Thomas Jane if she doesn’t have a scheduling conflict, but last year, Allison DuBois was there pushing Medium. I was hoping they’d do something this year, too.

Yeah, I remember Allison Dubois being there, but I don’t think that was because of NBC. They really suck at promoting this show, but they’ll promote the heck out of all that reality crap and Deal or No Deal. Go figure.

Have you seen Baby Borrowers? I made it through ten minutes. Mindnumbingly stupid. Who would do that to their baby? The kids were all upset and the teens didn’t have any idea how to care for them. Were the teens only children raised in a vacuum or something? By the time I was 12 people thought I was an unwed teen mom because I took care of my baby brother so often.

No, I haven’t seen that. Frankly, I refuse to watch any of that “reality” crap like that. It’s trash. I will watch real reality shows like “Black Gold” (about oil drillers in Texas- it’s pretty good- those guys are funny) and “Ice Road Truckers” (about truckers driving over the frozen Arctic Ocean in sub-zero temps- kinda hokey sometimes but addicting). My newest fave is “Hopkins” set at Johns Hopkins (mostly because I work there and I was there while it was being filmed so I’m curious to see how it turned out).
