November 21, 2005 Still Life Rerun Open Mic
Do you have your 3-D glasses? Your wine glasses? You’ll need both tonight! Still Life is the cool episode that they decided to make in 3-D. I’m serving a nice red wine - Francisco Gillmore’s estate bottled Concepcion Syrah. I’ve got an assortment of my favorite cheeses, as well. Since it is almost Halloween, the kids wanted to add to the festivities with their sugar cookies, which are iced with creepy spiders and bats.
If you can, tune in at 11 p.m. EST to watch the episode on Lifetime. If you can’t stay up that late, feel free to watch your DVD or Tivo copy and start the open mic chatter early.

I love the way she wakes from her dream about Van Gogh to hear the pbs fund drive on tv.

I love the tie scene. It is just so typically guy to refuse the napkin because they’ll take away your man card and immediately stick the end of your tie in the coffee.

I’m so not hiring the guy who decorated this place. Ick.

She’s not going to be mean to you. She’s your sister. Allison is not done talking and Ariel’s sticking out her tongue. They are so genuine. We would have done that growing up.

It would be so odd to try to discuss art with Allison. I forgot about that part where she says “Her eyes are so sad.” while staring at a painting of the back of the woman’s head.

Do you mind?
Me? I’m dead. I don’t mind much of anything any more.

Oops. Solved the wrong murder there, Allison.
I love Lee’s lines in this one.
“Unless Jason Morrow’s one really advanced toddler, I’m guessing he’s not our killer.”

Oooh. Gossamer. For more on Gossamer, don’t forget to read the group fan fiction post! Betty is adding some great chapters.

Joe’s Dad is so right. You can’t earn enough to make missing the chance to stick cards on your forehead worthwhile.

OMG! I’d forgotten just how many incredible scenes this episode had in it! Joe’s Dad is always a hoot and I’d forgotten these poignant scenes with him and Allison when he is telling her about all the things Joe would miss with the new company and how it wasn’t worth it! Love Scanlon in these scenes, too. How creepy was the tree with the shoes and the canvas in the art gallery with the hand? OMG! what a great episode just in time for Halloween! The kids are too funny with their fighting - so real! Isn’t that the truth - Joe saying I thought it was great and I’ve heard it five times already!
What a diabolical man! Who wrote this ep? I forgot to look, but what a great way to weave this stuff together! Killed his own kid just so he could have millions of dollars to control. The only thing I thought was a bit iffy was the daughter of the woman being a hooker and somehow she found him/he found her and he killed her? What a horrible crime scene! All that blood, and then Scanlon deadpanning - “we haven’t found the body it belongs to yet.”
I so love Joe’s Dad! I would love for him to make 3 or 4 visits a year -better him than Dr. Charles Walker!

[…] third victim has to be Maria Soto in the Season Two Episode Nine “Still Life“. A parent dying before her child is such a sad thing, especially when it is so senseless. […]
