Open Letter From Michael Slezak About Medium

by Sheila on March 14th, 2007

Michael Slezak at EW.com’s Popwatch Blog has his eye on shows “on the bubble” that may (or may not) be picked up for the fall season. Here is his tongue-in-cheek letter to NBC execs regarding Medium:

Dear NBC,

I was horrified to see my beloved Medium’s future in jeopardy — especially since any ratings decline the show has experienced is your own stupid fault. Why couldn’t you have left the supernatural detective series back in its old Monday at 10 p.m. timeslot, where it would’ve been a perfect lead-out from your breakout freshman hit, Heroes? Instead, you gave the position to the incompatible Studio 60, which has squandered Heroes‘ big audience (and wasted several hours of my life that I’ll never get back). Not only that, Medium continues to cook up spooky, innovative storylines — like that doozy from a few weeks back about the murderous doll — while also serving as the sweetest, most realistic portrayal of a modern working family on network TV. Did I mention Medium is often a hoot, too, thanks to the versatile Patricia Arquette, and the adorable Maria Lark as middle child Bridgette? Plus NBC, if Variety is right, and it’s gonna come down to either Medium or Crossing Jordan, just remember which one scored an Emmy for its leading lady.

Hopefully,
Michael Slezak

Dear NBC,

More Medium.

Love,
Sheila

    NBC,
Just keep ‘Medium’ on, seriously. If you cancel it, CBS is waiting to pick it up (to protect their syndication deal with Lifetime, not to mention future DVd sales) and turn it back into the smash ratings hit it was.
And for the record, move it BACK to Monday nights at 10, and you will be rewarded with 12 million viewers at least.

    Sheila:
Already been there. Already left my two cents worth. And that’s about all it’s worth. But at least I’ve had my say. Thanks for the link.

What a great letter - maybe we should all post on the NBC site or even mail our snail mail letters to Kevin Reilly the President of NBC Entertainment. I am in total agreement with the letter - good for him!

I’m up for anything within reason to keep Medium on television. I went and left my Medium praise. That was a great letter, they made all the right points. I don’t see how they could possibly cancel Medium…

Great letter. Save Medium! And nothing against Crossing Jordan, but I fell asleep during it tonight.

THe ony reason Crossing Jordan is getting killed is becasue they put it up agenced Idol and Criminal minds. My i remind you all that both shows are on” the bubble” and they could both be excuted next month.
