Open Mic Night at Medium Dreams
It’s Open Mic Night at Medium Dreams!
This week’s episode is No One to Watch Over Me.
It’s new! It’s the first of four related season-end stories! There’s snow in the middle of Phoenix! (How DID they do that? Oh, hey, watch the behind-the-scenes video and find out.)
Tonight’s drink is the Purple Vulcan. I have no idea what that is except that it involves ouzo and is served in a shot glass. You have been warned.
Did anyone bring a bloomin’ onion? I love those.
See you soon! Meanwhile, please talk amongst yourselves.

This sounds like such a good episode as do all of the remaining ones, which, as we discussed, makes me very sad and happy at the same time - happy because these are new episodes that sound really fabulous and sad because the season is coming to an end. How many months will we have to wait until this season is released on DVD? How many months will we have to wait for the 4th season to start? (Yes, I’m thinking positively that there will definitely be a 4th season!)
OK, I’m in for margaritas - Dawn, you gonna bring that bloomin’ onion?
Sheila, you are so adventurous with those drinks!

Okay, as long as there’s margaritas, and since ya’ll asked so nicely, I’ll bring the bloomin’ onion.
Sheila, I’m not too sure about ouzo. I’ve never tried it, but I’m up for something new.
Betty, I feel pretty certain that there will be a fourth season. The stars are aligning positively and “All Signs Point to Yes”. (I consulted my Magic 8 Ball, you can’t get much more certain than that.) But unfortunately that means at least 3 months ( I hope not more) before new episodes, and maybe longer for the dvd set. You know how they like to torment us with these things. I REALLY hope NBC doesn’t do something as STUPID as they did this season and hold the show until November or heaven forbid, January, before bringing it back.
These last few eps look REALLY good. I’m so excited. I can’t wait til tonight. See you then.

OK, here’s a bit of trivia for you all - in the episode “In The Rough” first season, the lawyer who was trying to get the guy off for the murder rap (we found out he was framed by Scanlon for a murder, but he had abducted and killed a 4 year old little girl, whose body was never found) was played by Paul Adelstein. Paul Adelstein played “Cliff” Mike Turk’s (David Cubitt) cop partner on “Turks”. What a small world!
We already know that the actor, Bruce Cabot, who was in “Traders” with David Cubitt plays Joe Dubois’ dead father. I don’t think we have seen him at all this season.
OK, who’s bringing the chocolate?
Betty
Apr 25, 2007 at 4:25 pm
OH, almost forgot - Paul Adelstein - see previous post - married Liza Weil in November. Liza plays Paris Gellar on “Gilmore Girls.”

David Cubitt sighting! Thanks to nansee for this! Easter Weekend, David Cubitt was at a Grand Prix event in Las Vegas!
You know, if I ever got to meet the man in person, I think I would probably faint dead away!

I’m on my way! Leaving the office now so should be home in an hour to an hour and a half.
BTW, I checked with b5media tech support last week about the slow page loading and that “You are posting too fast. Slow down” message. They told me they wouldn’t be able to get to it until April 30th.
I’m not sayin’ nuthin’. Nope. This is me, sitting her not saying a word.
My apologies if you run into slow page loads or that annoying message tonight.
See you soon!

Hey, looking forward to seeing you tonight, Sheila. Tom won’t be able to be here but he asked me to say hi to everyone.
So we have to put up with these tech problems for another week! Grrr! I guess I won’t complain too loudly as long as they promise to get to it soon.
Oh, and I don’t know if any of you have heard this yet, but the episode of Rachael Ray that Patricia taped a few weeks ago when she was in NYC will be airing on May 9th. Or at least that’s the way it’s scheduled right now. Can’t wait for that. See you soon.

Hi Everyone!
I am glad to be here. True blue “Happy Mediums” partying-what could be better.
Let me try an ouzo shot-just one, I never had it before and I want to be on my best behavior.
Oh, Hey Dawn!!
Dawn
Apr 25, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Hey LENA!! YOU MADE IT!!! I’m glad you’re here.
How’s the show so far? Don’t tell me too much, cause I’m not watching it yet.
But is it good so far?
Somebody get me a margarita, please. Frozen, extra salt, and I’ll pass the bloomin’ onion.

BTW, anybody who’s here, say hi to my friend Lena, who’s another big Medium fan.
Lena, I told you it can sometimes be a little slow early on. It usually picks up a little later. Unfortunately, my friend Tom isn’t here tonight. He’s usually good to keep the chatter going. Meantime I’m here, even if I’m not watching, so we can chat at least.

Seriously, I don’t know how her hubby hasn’t had a heart attack yet from all that middle of the night startling. She’s put me on edge already! I’m going to get a fuzzy navel to calm my nerves.

Girl,
It’s so good, I can hardly type and watch. It’s raw. Jake is doing a fabulous job-just fabulous.
I think I’ll try another Purple Vulcan to enhance the Blue Oyster Cult song that’s in my head now…
But that’s the last one.

Hi Everyone,
Again it’s really great to meet some serious Medium fans.
I promise to get the flow of the conversation. I guess ya’ll know the site acts up a bit, huh?

I like this site. Especially all the extra links.
Btw, you guys are going to LOVE this ep. Sorry to tease you. I am so excited.

Hey, Lena
STOP, you’re killin’ me! I’m dyin’ here. I’m still at work and I can’t watch it yet. Is it really good?
I can’t WAIT to get home and watch it.
Yeah, Lena I forgot to mention the technical glitches they’ve been having. Hopefully that’ll be worked out before the next Open Mic Nite.
Dawn
Apr 25, 2007 at 7:52 pm
Lena, you’d better go easy on those Purple Vulcans. You know you have to work tomorrow.
Here, have some bloomin’ onion.
Anybody seen my margarita?

I’m leaving work now. I’ll be back with you in about an hour. See you soon.

Dawn: I could swear I saw Betty with your margarita a minute ago. Of course, I could be wrong. Ouzo does funny things to the brain.
Dawn

I’ll bet she slipped off and drank it. Guess I’ll have to get another.
Sheila, how many of those Purple things have you had? You are at home, right?
Sheila

Well, kids, this is my last Open Mic Night as moderator. *sniff* Not that “moderator” means anything. All it really means is I have the power to go into the SPAM filter and rescue anyone who gets stuck in there accidentally. That has not happened for a while, thankfully.
I shall miss the power terribly. Hee!
Sheila
Apr 25, 2007 at 8:03 pm
Yep, I’m at home. Just one. I am pacing myself. They are mighty powerful stuff. I can’t get mine to actually be purple. :(

Apr 25, 2007 at 8:15 pm
If this is your last open mic as moderator, does that mean you have found a successor?
Sheila
Apr 25, 2007 at 8:40 pm
Hi Brett. Not as far as I know. I am not privy to who has or has not applied for the position. I suspect my Channel Editor would ping me if someone applied but that is not necessarily so.
Hey, the job posting is up at the Problogger Job Board.

Hey, guys
Sorry I’ve been so quiet so quiet. I just got home. How’s the party going?
Sheila, I can’t believe this is your last Open Mic Nite as moderator. You will still be around, won’t you?
Sheila

Si, Senorita. I will be here commenting as long as someone is here posting. I hope they find someone.
*hint hint people!*
:)))))))

It is weird when I stop to thing that I will not be posting here after next Monday. It does not seem real yet. I am sure it will hit me over the weekend when I draft my fare-thee-well post.
I am excited to see someone else take over and build on the foundation I have set up. Or take off in a completely new direction. Heck, whatever floats New Blogger’s boat is fine by me.
Sheila
Apr 25, 2007 at 9:15 pm
But ENOUGH ABOUT ME.
What’s going on with the show? Some of you have seen it already, I know you have. I am not sure if I want to know or not. Perhaps not.
How about this? If you are going to post a spoiler, put *SPOILER* at the beginning of your comment so anyone who does not want to know ahead of time can avert their eyes and move on to the next comment.

OHMYGOD! THAT was SUCH a GREAT show!!! And it looks like it will only get better from here.
You are in for a TREAT, guys.

I am so hating you right now. And everyone else out there who has already seen the show while I sit here waiting for it to BEGIN. Bitches. All of you. Even the big hairy boys.

Public Service announcement. That was nice. Deep Ghost made a comment about the strangeness of life imitating art with the NASA shootings happening after Joe Day Afternoon. I guess it was really weighing on their minds at Medium.

Okay, you are all forgiven now. IT’S ON!
Dawn
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:06 pm
Don’t blame us, Sheila. You’re the one who chose the left coast. But I guess you’re happy now that the show’s starting, right?
I loved the opening. I think it was wonderful that they did that.
And the dream was really cool, too.

Summer camp.
Whee! Sounds like fun!
Brett
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:09 pm
Actually, I don’t agree with editing the show because of something completely unrelated that happened. If the news department is going to run video tapes of mass murderers, I don’t see how clips from an unrelated Medium episode that aired weeks ago are somehow insensitive all of a sudden.
Sheila

It is so annoying when people get special treatment because of who they know.
I realize that is how life works but it does not mean I have to like it. So there.

Don’t. Open. The Freezer.
Sheila

I told her not to open the freezer!
Dawn
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:16 pm
She opened the freezer.
How creepy was that?
That’s enough to give me nightmares.
Brett
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:17 pm
You never know though. Sure 99 times out of a hundred you will open a big horizontal freezer and find a dead body. But that one time out of a hundred, it will be full of really cute frolicking kittens. And who can resist the lure of frolicking kittens?

You just KNEW she was gonna do it, dincha’?
I mean, she never just calls the cops or runs away screaming (like I would). She HAS to do it.

Lots of attitude in this ep.
Ariel’s turning into a real TEENAGER! Of course she knows everything. Didn’t you know everything when you were 14?
And Joe is really grumpy. I knew he was gonna be, but I didn’t expect him to treat Allison like that. That was just mean.
Sheila
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:31 pm
What? The guy who committed suicide is not the same guy from her dream? I am shocked. SHOCKED.
Brett
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:34 pm
Ariel was almost a little creepy with that “I’ll still know where it is.” line.
Brett
Apr 25, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Aha. Nice twist with Jennifer.

I ACHED for Joe this episode. Jake Weber really made me feel his pain. They are ending the season will some excellent shows. Bravo.
Watch for Brett’s review tomorrow, everyone. I will link to it when it goes up. And I still have a few more posts left in me.
G’nite all.

Great ep! I almost cried a few times.
Head’s up! Patricia’s ep of Rachael Ray finally aires 5/9/2007 for sweeps no less!

Apr 26, 2007 at 9:39 am
I totally missed Brett’s comment last night.
I was actually thinking about that as I drifted off to sleep. I remembered Joe’s scenes where he looked haunted and wondered where the clips were supposed to be. His scenes would have been that much more powerful if we saw what he was feeling/experiencing.
It is a fictional TV show, after all. What is the big deal? And did anyone else think he seemed a tad wooden and uncomfortable in the public service announcement?

Yes, Sheila, I totally agree with you about Jake Weber looking like he’d rather be ANYWHERE but there doing that PSA before the show.
I think NBC screwed up royally when they aired that footage of the mass murderer and now are trying to make nice and show how sensitive they are to the public by deleting scenes from a fictional show.
Allison, Allison, when will you ever learn to take Scanlon with you? 1st we need more Scanlon time, but who could find a better looking body guard I ask you?
Welcome Lena! Where’d you go?
Betty
Apr 26, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Hey, I’m surprised no one mentioned that when the little girl was watching TV waiting for her sister to come back, she was watching an episode of Frasier!

I came back and looked over ya’ll’s conversation. I’m sorry, I could not join in last night. The site would not cooperate. So I now I can say good-bye and see you on Wednesday.
I had fun. Maybe it will be better next time.
