Open Mic Night: We Had a Dream
Welcome to Open Mic Night at Medium Dreams.
Each Wednesday we open up the comments so you can talk amongst yourselves before, during, and after the show. This week’s episode is We Had a Dream (MED-051), where Allison faces the creepy psychic bad guy from Season Two’s S.O.S., who uses his powers for evil. He is played
by Eric Stoltz this time around. (They used some unknown for S.O.S. since you only got a tiny glimpse of his face and not until the end of the episode.)
Come to this post before, during, or after the show to chat about Medium in the comments. You can talk about the show, gossip about the actors, meet some of your fellow readers and commenters, or go off on a completely unrelated tangent. That is the beauty of Open Mic Night. It is all about the fun.
I will arrive between 6:00 and 7:00pm PST but no need to wait for me. Comments are open as soon as this post goes up.
See you later!

Yes! My favorite night of the week is finally here and it looks like it’s going to be a great episode!

Wow, Wednesday night at last. It seems like today took forever! Weren’t both of those clips of tonight’s episode just great! SOS is one of my favorite episodes of season 2, so I have high expectations for this episode. I just hope the clips haven’t spoiled it for me.
By the way, on the Yahoo clip did anyone else notice Scanlon mention something about the Deputy Major? I wonder if that mean’s she be on tonight’s episode?

Hey, I’ve been hearing around the internet that CBS is looking to pick up Medium if NBC decides not to. Has anyone else seen this? They said it is in the next TV Guide, but I checked their website and didn’t see anything like that. Or maybe I’m just not looking properly. Has anyone actually read this article? And if so is there anyway it can be put up here? Or can anyone get a link, because I’d really like to hear more on this!

Oh, only an hour and a half ’till showtime. Where is everyone!? Don’t you know I’m here talking to myself, thinking about Medium like a crazy person!

Holly; I’ve read the same thing and I think the guy’s reading too much into it. I also just read that NBC is going to start streaming full episodes of Medium online in March. It’s about time. But do you think this will affect the show’s ratings? I know a lot of people have been begging them to do this. And I really hope this is a good sign for the show’s future. Do you think they would do this if they were going to cancel it?
And I did notice Scanlon’s reference to the Deputy Mayor in the clip. She was the one who pulled the police watch off of Allison’s house. Another reason to really not like her.
I really can’t wait for this episode though. It looks like a really good one. Three more hours for me, though. Darn it!

Yeah, I heard a little bit about how they were going to be putting full episodes up too. NBC must have faith in the show. Personally I think it could help ratings. Someone might watch it online for the first time and decide to catch in on television. From all the comments I’ve read over at NBC’s site, it seems that people aren’t able to catch the show in the timeslot that it’s in, and this would be perfect for them! Although they make these things called DVRs and TiVo now…seems almost perfect for that type of situation.
I hope I can stay up. I might have to watch it in bed this week. Ten o’clock is just so late…

Tracey
Feb 28, 2007 at 8:32 pm
I would have to say this one is right up there with The One Behind The Wheel as one of my favorites, it was one of those episodes where I was biting my nails waiting to see what was going to happen and I never would have expected some of the moments.

What I want to know is: where is he getting his information? I know he’s psychic and all, like Allison, but she gets her info from the dead. We don’t always see them talking to her but we usually find out someone was sending her the dreams in some way. But this guy is dreaming about helpless people before they are dead. HE CREEPS ME OUT.
Tracey
Feb 28, 2007 at 8:46 pm
It all comes from the S.O.S episode, he gets the info from his dreams because it’s like he gets a distress call from these women when they get in bad situations. And yes he was really creepy, you’ll even see that he creeps Allison out too.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 8:50 pm
Well I know he gets him info from his dreams, but I am wondering where it comes from originally. You know what I mean? Allison’s info comes through her dreams, too, but there is usually a source, like a dead person sending the message, even if we never see that person.
It just got me to thinking. Dead people need to accomplish something so they send a message through Allison to fix it. But this guy? Just evil. *!!!*
Tracey
Feb 28, 2007 at 9:00 pm
I see what your saying, maybe someday we will find out. You never know it could be from a previous dead serial killer helping him, I believe his name was Dr. Walker.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 9:02 pm
Euuuuuuw! Stop it. You’re scaring me. Dr. Walker is gone Gone GONE!

Okay, I’m with Tracey. This one ranks up there with the “One Behind the Wheel” episode for me. That guy scared the bejeesus out of me. And I never expected some of those moments. A couple of times I was going “Oh, my God”. I couldn’t believe it. And just when I thought I knew what was happening, they surprised me again. I’m still creeped out.

Hey, was that a young, hot Texas girl married older sugar daddy stereotype there?
Dawn
Feb 28, 2007 at 10:08 pm
NO, not on television, Sheila. They would NEVER use a STEREOTYPE!! (gasp)
Tracey

Yes it was a total sugar daddy.

Homeland Security?? Has she lost her mind??

What WAS she thinking? When will she learn not to tell JUST ANYONE about her premonitions?

Sheila, did you notice how much promotion this episode got on the net? You think NBC is finally going to start appreciating this show?
Dawn
Feb 28, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Eewww, it’s Deputy Doll. She must be taking acting classes. She doesn’t seem quite so wooden tonight.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 10:24 pm
Argh! Different time zone?
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Dawn: Yeah, they have picked up the pace on the promotion.
Maybe Deputy Doll was good because she had too many things to concentrate on: running, breathing, acting. She spent so much energy on running and breathing, she finally let the acting just be natural. :)

I totally didn’t see that coming.
Did anyone else see the Mazda commercial with the Chinese fire drill? That was hilarious. We used to do that when we were in high school.

You’re right, Sheila. She did have her moments. But that ending, I’m with you. I was watching with my hands over my eyes BOTH times I watched it.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:06 pm
I would have liked to see him get blown away, though. I wonder why they didn’t show that. It’s not like it’s on during the family hour. I guess we’ll have to take Scanlon’s word for it that he is definitely dead. And pout that the writers are clearing the way for him to get back together with DiNovi. Dammit.
Dawn
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:07 pm
I couldn’t believe Scanlon would pull something like that on her. But I’ll have to say he was pretty dashing in this ep. I’ll bet Betty was loving this one, too.

Feb 28, 2007 at 11:08 pm
Dawn: No doubt! Can’t wait to hear what Betty has to say tomorrow.

Wasn’t it funny that Bridget wanted to take her bat in case she needed to beat up the serial killer guy? Aren’t those kids adorable?
Tracey
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:10 pm
Thought it was a nice touch that Allison was drinking after it all happened, I did see that right.
Dawn
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:11 pm
Yes, you did. And it wasn’t a beer, either, though I couldn’t blame her in that situation.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:12 pm
Dawn: I kept expecting Allison to find the bat later and beat Troyer about the head and shoulders with it.
Tracey: I think she was! Something brown and whiskey-ish, I think. Blech. I much prefer vodka. Ooh, like the dead roommate. Remind me never to have booze delivered.
Dawn
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:16 pm
I think it was whiskey, Sheila. And didn’t you love the exchange between her and Scanlon at the end when he said “you can get a good night’s sleep now” and she said “Just because he’s dead?” You think we’ll see him again in her dreams like Dr. Walker?
Sheila

Alright kids, I am off to bed. Actually, I am off to polish tonight’s liveblogging - yes! I actually liveblogged it! haven’t done that in ages! - and then to bed. Toodles!
Tracey
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:16 pm
I didn’t even know you can have it delivered, must be something I’m missing out on.
Sheila
Feb 28, 2007 at 11:18 pm
Dawn: I missed that exchange with Scanlon! I think I was wondering if Troyer was going to suddenly come crashing through the window like they do in horror movies.
Tracey: I have seen that on TV since I was a kid but I have never lived anywhere where they actually do that. I wonder if it’s just a big city thing.
Okay, off to bed for reals this time.

I started this at IMDB.com and Golden Derby in the Emmy forums. I just got my TV Guide in the mail this week, and read the article in the Aissello report. it is real. I even cut it out! There is a cute picture of the Dubois family with it….

Well don’t just stand there, Michael. Email me a photocopy so I can post it! Or better yet, post it on your own blog so I can link to you. You are way too funny and in-the-know not to have your own blog.

OK, what a great ep!
Yes, that was my blood curdling scream when I saw Di Novi sitting there in Scanlon’s apartment! but I have to say, I did like the exchange they had and I thought one of the funniest lines of the night was “Put your ego back in your pants. I don’t want to stay the night.”
I kept screaming to Scanlon, stick to your guns! Tell her off! Throw her out! I wish he wouldn’t have shared the info with her.
Tina Di Joseph must finally be taking some classes - maybe TBPB have been reading the message boards about her and realized she wasn’t up to par with the rest of the cast.
The guy really creeped me out, too! Scary episode. I was so mad at Di Novi when she supposedly pulled the police protection!!!!! GRRRR! If something happened to Allison, Di Novi would really be on Scanlon’s shit list!
I can’t believe they did that to Allison and that she didn’t know, but I guess when you are that scared! All of that, I’m driving 90 and I;m 10 minutes away!!!!!! OMG!
That was a nice ending, and sister girl nansee, I fell right on the floor and passed out at that last scene! So precious! Did you notice how Scanlon rested his chin on Allison’s head? Too cute!
The one thing that really ticked me off though, and it’s not the obivious about Di Novi, I thought the writers handled that whole exchange pretty well, but the thing that really bugged me was when Scanlon went to say goodbye to Di Novi and told her “I don’t think I would have arrived her without you.” WHAT??????? He is not stupid! He’s a very smart guy - remember all the gut instinct stuff? He doesn’t need her help to do his job!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!
OK, got that out of my system!
Anyway, look at the TV Guide site under Michael Ausiello - Ausiello’s report - you should find the article about CBS possibly being interested in buying Medium if NBC cancels it. Keep in mind, Ausiello doesn’t watch Medium. He was the one who posted the article about there being trouble on the set, too. Methinks he writes about Medium with a particularly negative stint.

Ladies, ladies, let me make one correction in your assumption - a Sugar Daddy is someone who supports a woman on the side - he doesn’t marry her - he keeps her on the side and generally supports her very well so she doesn’t have to work. A Sugar Daddy usually has a wife somewhere.
The woman in tonight’s ep was set to become a “trophy wife” - someone much younger and very hot who generally marries a wealthy, older man.
I did think about the time change since the folks in the airplane had an accent when Allison was getting Devalos to phone the warden. Smart thinking on Devalos part to have sketches of the couple made and passed around as “people of interest”. Love the way he listens Allison and makes something work, even when she has limited information - bad Joe, bad Joe! You’d think the man would just tell her to call Devalos or Scanlon.
