Patricia Arquette at My Little Pony Live Premiere

by Sheila on April 1st, 2007

Patricia was out and about a few weeks ago (March 14th to be exact) at the “My Little Pony Live” premiere.

Adorable, as per usual.

“I am not going to show my teeth, I am not going to show my teeth, I am not going to show my teeth..”

patricia arquette at my little pony live premiere march 14, 2007

“Oh heck, my teeth are just fine. What is the big deal?”

“Nope! Too self-conscious to show my teeth because I just KNOW someone out there will make fun of them even though they are PERFECTLY NORMAL AND FINE. Poopheads.”

And lastly (is that a word, lastly?), perhaps not the best of shots but it does show the entire ensemble, with shoes.

20 opinions for Patricia Arquette at My Little Pony Live Premiere

Well, speaking as a poophead - those are some notable snaggleteeth! Front two appear a different shade fom the rest - very apparent on her View appearance last week. Outfit? Amish housewife meets prison matron chic. Hair and makeup were fine. Why is it she’s either over exposing her bosom or covering it up like a prairie school marm?

There! You deliberately baited me… are you happy now?

Sheila, thanks so much for sharing those. Those are great! I love to see Patricia out having fun. And as usual, she looks beautiful.

Sorry to be a grouch, but why is it that we must always critique someone’s appearance down to the most minute detail? Isn’t it enough to say you like their outfit or don’t like it without unnecessarily pointing out personal characteristics that are better left alone? I think her teeth are just fine and I admire her decision to keep them as they are and not change her appearance to conform to society’s image of beauty.
I’m sorry, but I think while it may be okay to critique someone’s fashion sense, I have to draw the line at targeting personal traits that may or not be within their ability to change. There are millions of people in the world with flaws that they have to live with because they can’t change them, and we as a society should be able to look beyond physical appearance and see the person within. And the fact that Patricia chooses to keep herself as she is, despite that fact that people make fun of her, only makes me respect her more.
I know you’re only joking (at least I hope you are), but this is something I take very seriously.

    Now about her fashion sense,..

Alas, I must offer my critique too.

Absolutely Beautiful. What a smile, there is nothing wrong with her teeth they are as much a part of her as her smile.

Actually, I think this outfit is MUCH more flattering to her then either outfit she wore on Letterman or The View. It makes her look much slimmer. I thought the things she wore on those talk shows made her look dumpy. It’s a shame, because I think she is very pretty - doesn’t have the best teeth, but at least hers are real and not caps like most of Hollywood.

She needs to have one of those fashion people that show you how to flatter your body type by clothing choice - definitely needs one for the show and in real life.

Okay, I’m gonna say this once and then get off my soapbox. Has anyone ever noticed that it isn’t MEN who are the harshest critics of women, but other WOMEN? Seriously, are we that insecure as a gender and a species that we have to continually point out each other’s flaws? And I don’t think Patricia’s teeth are a flaw but rather a charming physical trait, so why must we continue to focus on something so trivial rather than looking at the whole picture? Real beauty is not something that can be bought or manufactured, and if someone like Patricia has recognized that, then why can’t the rest of us?

And while I may not always agree with her choices in fashion, I say if she’s okay with how she looks, then why do we care? Fashion taste is entirely subjective. Just look at some of the things that other Hollywood actresses wear. Patricia is absolutely stunning compared to most of them, and her fashion sense is by far better than a lot of them.

She looks so happy in those pictures. We should be happy for her. She has everything going for her. She is an individual, she feels comfortable with herself, we should wish that for ourselves.

Most of all she is real and she is doing her own thing.

    That away Patricia!!!

    Dawn, Tom and Betty,

I call them like I see them. I am admirer of P.A.’s, I actually ADMIRE that she does not conform…. However, as Sheila BAITED me with her to show or not to show teeth commentary - how could I resist?

The dress? we’ve all seen her wear worse…nonetheless, it wasn’t the most flattering choice. I thought hair and makeup were fine.

Speaking of hair….. That didn’t come from a box of L’oreal and Supercuts! That’s a $500.00 cut and color job at a notable stylist’s EASY! Probably more….

So If I give her sh*t about fashion and dentistry, please be aware it’s because I know the attention she pays to other aspects of her appearance. It doesn’t mean I don’t like and admire her… It’s just the dichotomy between the money, time and care she lavishes on some aspects of her appearance verses others is at times startling.

Still and all, I of course find her to be an outstanding actress. Just one with funky teeth and bad fashion sense. You’ll note: I NEVER give her sh*t about her weight.

‘Tis true. I totally baited JCW. :) I knew I could count on him for some fun commentary.

I like how Patricia looks kind of pink and almost freckly, like she has been having some fun in the sun. And Tom is right, she does look really happy. I’d be happy too, if I were as talented and vivacious as she is!

Okay, JCW. I see your point about her fashion, but I still say her teeth should be a non-issue. If you won’t give her sh*t about her weight, then why would you about her teeth? It’s the same thing in my opinion.

And I know Sheila was baiting you. But must you jump at every fly that lands on the water?

There, I’m done now. And I wasn’t trying to get down on anybody, just voicing my opinion too.

When you choose a profession that is in the public eye, unfortunately people weighing in on your appearance is just part of it. We are a culture that is obsessed with appearance.

In a way, I feel like these people are paid plenty of money for what they do - in fact, most of them make more for filming one television episode than the average person makes in one year. (Stars frequently get their salary bumped up from say $10-15,000 per ep to at least $40,000 per ep once the show is established as a hit)Movies and sports figures frequently make more than 10 people for one deal.

I feel like when you have plenty of money, it’s easy to look nice because you can actually afford to buy the best. You can afford a stylist or $500 hair cuts. You can actually buy what you want and not just necessities.

In fact, a lot of these people are offered designer things for free just for the publicity. Television stars can even “borrow” some of their wardrobe for appearances. Have you ever seen how many clothes these shows buy? It’s incredible.

Many of us normal, everyday people don’t have the money to get our teeth straightened, get well-known hairstylists to cut our hair, and certainly can’t afford to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on one outfit. We certainly can’t afford a stylist.

In a way, I hold these people to a higher standard because they have the means to do it.

If you think about it, when the majority of these people are photographed, they are at some place where they know they will be - it’s part of the game. For all the celebs who whine about not having any privacy, why do they frequent the places they know will be crawling with photogs? It’s simple, they go there so they will be photographed. It’s not like someone caught them working in their yard, putting the garbage out, cleaning their pool, etc.

I’m a Southern woman, and we NEVER leave the house without putting on make-up and fixing our hair and putting on clean clothes. My momma used to say, “you can be poor, but there’s no excuse for being dirty.”

You exactly prove the point that this society is obsessed with appearance. Why are you judging people based on the amount of money you are assuming they make. Does this really have anything to do with her acting ability?

You really have no idea what her finances are. For all we know, she may donate 90% of her income we really don’t know and since we don’t know it doesn’t make sense to speculate.

Why can’t we just appreciate her as a human being as an actress who is loved by millions. How many of those millions are really bothered about her teeth?

I really think we should end this discussion. This is the reason why I don’t go to normal boards where all the bickering goes on. I thought and still think that this website is different.

Who are we to decide what these people should wear or how they should act. What makes us any better than they are?

If by any chance Patricia ever does look at this website do we want her to think all we can do is pick on her here? Her teeth, her appearance, her make up, her clothes etc??? I think NOT.

Rather I think we would want her to see that she indeed has made a difference in so many lives. So many people I talk to about her mentioned the word role model. I think she needs to see that we her fans, truly love the work she does and the type of person she is and we wish her the best.

I can see both of your opinions, but I don’t think any of it is relevant. Yes, she’s pretty and a terrific actress, but that’s where I think we should stop. She’s a person like the rest of us, and I know I would be hurt if people kept giving me grief about aspects of how I look, no matter how much money I made.

Tom, I’m not bickering with anyone. I was merely stating why people feel they can weigh in on a star’s appearance. Not neccesarily Patricia Arquette, but any star. Many of today’s stars are quite conspicuous in their excess - shopping binges, lavish holidays, partying, etc.

I do feel Patricia is one of the more down to earth stars, but the Arquette family in general is not known for their good taste when it comes to clothing choices. That’s not to say they are not nice, decent people, they just have funky taste in clothing. They happen to have chosen a profession that feeds on publicity. We live in a society where Blackwell’s Worst Dressed List makes the front page.

Stars aren’t the only ones who deal with this. How many a First Lady has been lambasted for her hairstyle or clothing choice? I’m sure Jackie Kennedy accomplished many things as First Lady, but what do most people remember her for? Her fashion sense and redecorating of the White House. I believe it was a huge story when Nancy Reagan changed the White House china!

Unfortunately, many high profile people who choose to do good deeds, do them without the need for publicity. Rare, but it happens. That is really the way it should be - doing something because it’s the right thing to do. Some stars choose to use their noteriety to help causes. It’s a shame we don’t recognize the efforts of those who are good role models because they are decent people - instead, we get Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton updates ad naseum. Look at the top rated TV programs, crime shows that depict abhorrent behavior.

I used to work in a hospital and there were times when some “star” would be escorted through for a “photo op” with a sick child. Oh, how sweet they would be when the cameras were snapping and how nice they would paint or color with the sick children, but as soon as the photo op was over, they were outta there. The headline would say something about all their good deeds, etc, when in fact the only time they spent with sick children was while the cameras were flashing.

I’m sure there are many a mother out there who have children with crooked teeth who would in a heart beat have them straightened if only they had the funds to do so. However, they are faced the with daily choice of paying the light bill and keeping food on the table instead. Don’t think stars are the only people that suffer for their appearance - children can be very cruel to other children. Children pick on other children for their appearance all the time - it could be teeth, or hair, or a nose, anything.

Many schools have chosen to go with a modified uniform to even the playing field when it comes to clothing. When my son was in middle school, some of the children were very critical of the fact he didn’t have the latest in footwear, some $100 pair of athletic shoes. As a single mother of 3, a $100 pair of shoes for one child was not in the budget.

Personally, I think Patricia Arquette is a fine person. I admire her as an actress and a human being. I think she cares a great deal about those around her. I LOVE Medium. I applaud her decision not to be another stick figure on my television screen. It doesn’t stop me from wondering though, that someone who makes a good income from televison and movies would not get her teeth straightened when she knows she works in a profession that is all about looks. I’m glad if she is comfortable with her looks. I’m disappointed that the people who dress her on the show don’t do a better job of finding things that flatter her figure. I would like to see her look drop dead gorgeous every time she appears in public to promote the show or whatever project she is working on. I’m somewhat disappointed when she doesn’t look her best because I’m sure she has the means to do so.

There are those who like to single out her appearance and say the show is bad when they are not even comtemplating the actual content of the show, but what Patricia is wearing. That is ridiculous, but that is what her detractors say on message boards and blogs, etc.

I’m not judging her - I’m merely speculating on her clothing choices all in good fun, along with JCW or whoever else just doesn’t get her taste in fashion. I always tell my friends and my kids that it wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit to be nominated for “What Not To Wear”! After all, I’d get a trip to New York, $5000 to spend on new clothing, and I’d get to meet Clinton and Stacy, the two most knowledgeable people when it comes to what body type should wear what kind of clothes. They are gods when it comes to clothes! The hair guy and make-up lady on there? OMG! They are geniuses! Maybe that’s what Patricia needs is a visit to Clinton and Stacy!

Get a grip, Tom, we are just having fun here, we’re not bickering.

I don’t need to get a grip, her teeth, her clothing, her hair doesn’t bother me. You are the one who just went on for 11 paragraphs.

    Betty’s my Hero!

Look - everyone who writes an entry here is an admirer of Patricia’s, or they wouldn’t be here.

When you’re a celebrity, a little “ribbing” comes along with the territory. Patricia is obviously aware of the teeth thing, as you’ll note she often goes to great lengths not to show an open mouth smile in still photographs. She’s aware and she chooses not to alter her teeth. Good for her!

That doesn’t mean that her fans don’t occassionally take notice and comment on it, just as they would comment on a hair style or choice of wardrobe.

Betty’s right Tom - this isn’t a “bickering” situation, just a group of fans chatting. Some are the sort to comment on appearance, and some aren’t. The important point is we all like and support the woman.

In a better world - perhaps the next? Appearance won’t matter. Meantime, I think it’s great that there are people like you, Tom, who look totally beyond such matters, and I think it HUMAN that there are people like Betty and me (And even Sheila!) who take note of them.

Again - we’re all fans - we come here to share opinons - and everyone’s welcome to theirs! :^)

Alright, enough about this. Everybody’s got a point. And everybody’s entitled to their opinion. And we don’t all have to agree. So as long as we keep in mind that whatever is said here is said in good clean fun and in no way meant to offend anyone, least of all Patricia, then let’s just let it go at that.
