Patricia Arquette talked to Hollywood Exclusive about Medium, her summer vacation and more:
Patricia Arquette, whose grueling nonstop work schedule as the lead of NBC’s “Medium” caused her to collapse and the show to be put on a week’s production break last year, is back to work on the latest season of the drama — and her “really, really crazy schedule.
I guess Allison isn’t the only one who gets no sleep all year, because Patricia mentions that she catches up on sleep during the summer. She mentions that the family went to Yellowstone, too, and her daughter got to look at Old Faithful. I think it is wonderful that they were able to enjoy the trip as a “normal” family without tons of photographers shooting their every move.

Hi Everyone, I will be first.
This was the first time I heard that she collapsed on set and they had to shut down production for a week.
However this doesn’t suprise me with Patricia’s known committment to excellence. I just hope everyone is doing whatever they can to ease her burden.
The one bit of good news which I kind of forgot about was they said the news season was due to start in January UNLESS ONE OF THE NEW SHOWS ON NBC FLOPS. There is a high probability of this happening, so that gives me hope that we could all be watching the New Season earlier which means we get together earlier to talk about it on Medium Dreams.
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend and remember to help out “Jerry’s kids” if you can. This man has dedicated his life for this cause and like Patricia is totally committed.

All the more reason for the writers to showcase David Cubitt for several episodes and Miguel Sandoval - that way the weight of carrying the entire season isn’t so much on Patricia’s shoulders. I imagine as the girls are getting older, they will focus some more stories on them, too, but it’s time to let the supporting cast(other adults) shine a bit more and give Patricia a break. I heard from Dawn that Patricia has been bothered by bronchitis at the end of the season and it just didn’t want to go away.

BTW, good advice, Tom, on supporting Jerry’s kids. Good time to give blood also. Be thankful you have healthy children and are healthy enough to give blood and save lives!

Hi,everyone, I’m back! I just wanted to add something to this. As Tom said, this is the first I have heard of Patricia collapsing on the set and production being shut down, but from all that I’ve heard about her fierce work ethic, it doesn’t surprise me. She is totally dedicated to whatever project she is working on, just one more reason to admire and respect her. And while I do hope that she is well-rested from her vacation, and that they do try to make her workload a little easier next season, I hope that they don’t shift the focus of the show too much, because she IS the heart and soul of the show. And I really hope that something on the fall schedule flops so that Medium can come back sooner. I miss my Medium!!

hey you say that but all main actors work silly hours, I mean they all work between 12-16 hours a day, 5 days a week and that 40 weeks a year, which is crazy.
Hell there a thing on the Veronica Mars season 2 DVDs, which is day in Kirsten’s life and she on the set at 6am and she ain’t got round to leaving at 10:30pm.
I remember a comment on Buffy commentary about this camera guy who on working 16 hours on a set, he went in his car and killed himself on the freeway in a crash.
So maybe it not so unusually but saying that I heard it more she comes in and just nails it which is what you want on telly.

How come the Medium 23 season DVD set is only available in Canada at Amazon.ca for such an inflated price? Our dollar’s worth $1.05 US…the set sells for $133.00 unless one pre-ordered it before Oct 15 for $100??????

Carol, that is insanely high. It isn’t like they have to translate it to another language or something. Does it have something to do with licensing fees?

Carol, I think you must have misread the offer. Amazon.com IS offering a special Season 1/2/3 SET for about $133, however, the Season 3 set alone is about $41.99 US dollars - usually previous season rates will go down once they have been out for a while.
