Season Four’s Final Four
The final four episodes of Medium will all be tied together in a story arc involving Kelly Preston as venture capitalist Meghan Doyle, who gets excited about Joe’s moonlight dream invention. Allison isn’t very excited, though, especially when pretty Meghan Doyle teams up with Joe as his partner!
Episode 12, the first in the arc, will be called Partners in Crime.

Sounds intriguing! Aren’t they going to film more episodes than that? I certainly hope so. If not, does this mean we are going to end the season on a note of marital discord?

This is Kelly Preston as in Mrs John Travolta Kelly Preston? That’s impressive right there that Medium can attract that kind of star!

Betty,
GGC said, “We’re thrilled to have Kelly join us for the final episodes of Season 4,” in the press release for the four episode block, so it sounds likely. And yes, she is that Kelly Preston! Cool, huh?

Yes, that is waaaay cool! I just read the article on Zap2it and GGC said “he wanted someone who could stand toe to toe with Patricia and Jake.” It’s so great that they are so well thought of by him and by the acting community in general.
While the ratings were down from last week, Medium held up pretty well against stiff competition with a new CSI Miami and The Bachelor on ABC. Medium at (5.7) didn’t lose a whole lot from it’s lead-in of DorND (6.1) which also faced stiff competition with Dancing with the Stars on ABC and the much ballyhooed guest stint of Brittney Spears on CBS. Maybe that’s the ticket, Medium needs to sign Brittney! Kidding, just kidding!
I have to say I’m glad Medium isn’t up against Dancing with the Stars - I absolutely LOVE this show. It’s just pure entertainment. It also provides a lot of inspiration - last season with Heather Mills dancing with an artificial leg and this year Marlee Matlin showing that although she is profoundly deaf, she can keep up and dance with the best of them. I would just LOVE to see David Cubitt and Jake Weber on DWTS!
I’m sad Medium won’t be filming any more new eps than that. Let’s hope the rumors are true that Medium will definitely be back for a 5th season.

That’s cool about Kelly Preston joining the show. I just hope that they make too much of the focus of the show about her. The only thing that I didn’t like about the 3-episode arc last season was that seemed to be a lot of extraneous material centered around Neve Campbell and Jason Priestley. I love to see them attract these kinds of guest stars, but I like to see them keep the focus of the show, which is Allison and the family.
On another note, Medium was down a little bit from last week, but it should have finished last week solidly in the top twenty for the week, which should make NBC very happy. It was also the third highest rated show on the network last week. And in other news, NBC has announced that it will forego the usual May upfront presentations, and will announce their 2008-2009 schedule next week. So that will be great, as long as they renew Medium. Everybody keep your fingers crossed and think good thoughts!!!

It was “Good life” by Kanye West ft. T-Pain I think.

Dawn, I agree with you about not making the show all about the guest stars - sure they are important and it’s nice to attract big names to the show, but the show is about Allison and her family and Devalos and Scanlon.
Sure there is room for someone like Dr Charles Walker who makes a very memorable impression and has great presence, but ultimately the show must go back to the Dubois Household and Devalos and Scanlon who are or should be together every week. It’s even fun to have a character recur ala Dr Walker, although I think at this point it wouldn’t make much sense to bring Dr Walker back so soon - perhaps if the show stays on the air for 8 or 10 seasons, they could bring him back then.
I certainly hope NBC has given Medium the go ahead for its 5th season! They’d be so dumb to cancel it at this point. Medium is one of the few things NBC has going for it now. I really wish they would bring it back with MORE episodes next season to make up for the shortened season this year. I hope they keep it on Mondays and don’t go moving it to yet another night of the week.

You’re so right, Betty. And I’m glad you got what I meant, even though I typed it wrong, lol. I like when they bring in the guest stars, but not at the expense of drawing the attention away from the central cast and the heart of the story.
Still, it is great that the Medium producers are consistently able to lure big names like these to the show (not to mention some of the names that have appeared in the past). It shows that, as a friend once said to me, quality attracts quality. They obviously recognize excellent writing and craftmanship when they see it.
And one more note about the ratings this week; even though they were down this week, Medium still held onto its core audience, only dropping by about 1M viewers. Let’s hope that it does show some ability to rebound and hold its own against CSI:Miami next week. I am very hopeful for a renewal because of the numbers it has been scoring this season, both in the households and in the 18-49 demo, but also because for the last three weeks, Medium has been in the top 20 shows in either the household, the demo, or both, topping out this week at #15 in the rankings. Not bad at all. And last week’s numbers were the highest rating since May of 2006! Excellent! And with NBC announcing their schedule next week, at least we won’t have to wait until May to find out if it’s been renewed. Fingers crossed, everybody!
