Should Scanlon Quit His Job Poll Results

by Katelyn on September 24th, 2007

The results are in and most of you think that Scanlon shoud just wait the new D.A. out. However, quite a few of you would like to see Scanlon turn in his badge and get a P.I. license instead. I personally think that Allison would find it a bit boring - “You want me to let you know if she’s cheating? What happened to murder and mayhem?

Should Scanlon Quit His Job?

  • Yes! He’s wasted on school safety. He should get his P.I. license and team up with Allison.

    10 - 31% of all votes

  • Not if he wants a family. It is too hard to get decent health care when you are self employed.

    1 - 3% of all votes

  • Not yet. He needs to stick it out for a bit and see if the new D.A. messes up.

    19 - 59% of all votes

  • He shouldn’t just quit. He should look for a new job with another police force, preferably one that causes him to relocate to my town.

    2 - 6% of all votes

Anyone else watch the repeats of the season ending arc? Wow that discussion with Allison and Scanlon where he calls her “toxic” was powerful - not quite as stinging the second time around, but Scanlon still managed to get a wise crack in later just after the new DA told him he didn’t think he had a bright future with the Phoenix PD - as Allison catches him by the elevator, he says, “I’m just on my way to the parking lot to key his car, wanna come?”

Well, guys, the season kicks off this week on the major networks - I hope something on NBC’s fall schedule dies an early and painful death so Medium will come back before January 7 or 20th, whatever the correct debut date.

    Betty,
I love that comment. As far as I’m concerned, they can replace Chuck with Medium next week. It was like a string of geek movies with a bit of Mr. Bean thrown in. However, I’m afraid that the fans that made Napoleon Dynamite a hit will be just as excited about Chuck and keep it on the air.

From the reviews and commercials I’ve seen, Chuck actually looks like it might be quite entertaining, however, I work my extra job on Monday nights so I can’t watch it. Tape it you say? Well, my VCR is busy recording Dancing With The Stars which I absolutely LOVE!

Provided NBC wakes up and cancels Journeyman - nothing I’ve seen or heard makes me the least bit interested in this show - and they put Medium back on Monday in its rightful place, you can bet I’d have both VCR’s going, taping DWTS and Medium. I’d probably stay up when I got home at 12:30 AM to watch Medium, too!

Gotta love Scanlon and his snarky comments!

Anyone else want to join me in throwing things at the TV when the evil new DA comes on? He was supposed to be Devalos’ friend, too! You know what they say, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”

Anyone else think it odd that Devalos was supposed to be “in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico fishing” according to Scanlon?

Well, I thought Chuck would be entertaining, too, so I watched it, but I didn’t get into it. Maybe I’m just feeling bitter that the new shows aren’t Medium? I didn’t watch Journeyman at all - it just didn’t excite me for some reason.
I thought the story about Devalos was weird at first, too and was wondering if he was actually in a hospital and hiding the fact with a story about fishing. But I think they showed a short scene near the end of one of the episodes with him actually fishing, didn’t they?

I haven’t watched any of the new shows yet, and to be honest, the only one I’m really interested in is the new Bionic Woman, because I was a huge fan of the original, and because this one looks so dark and slick, it’s worth at least a peek to see if it lives it up to its hype. I may check out Kelsey Grammer’s new show,( mainly because he is the brains behind Medium) and I love him and Patricia Heaton anyway. I’m also curious about the Women’s Murder Club, because I’m a big fan of the books that it is based on. But that often leads to disappointment. I was excited about Bones at first because I am a fan of Kathy Reichs, but I found the show to be boring after a while.

Other than that, not much else on the fall schedule excites me. Like you, Betty, I’m hoping desperately that some of the new shows tank and NBC decides to bring Medium back sooner. If they do, I hope they do a better job of promoting than they did last year. Either way, they have got to improve their publicity for the show. It almost couldn’t get any worse.

But I REALLY, REALLY hope that something tanks so that they bring it back sooner. I miss my Medium!!
Is it cruel to wish for something else to fail so Medium can come back sooner? Lol.

Katelyn, I don’t remember seeing any scenes of Devalos fishing. And I really don’t think that this new DA will be around for very long. I’m betting we won’t see him in more than one or two episodes, if that many. And I don’t think Scanlon is going to have to quit his job. I think this whole thing with Allison is going to fade away pretty quickly and they will get back to business as usual. The deal that Allison makes with Anjelica Huston’s character is probably going to be a bridge just until things settle down in the DA’s office and Allison will eventually be working with them again in some capacity, probably unofficially. That’s just my opinion. I really don’t see how else they could handle it because the whole show is built around the premise that she sees things and helps the police and the DA solve crimes.

Katelyn, no they never showed Devalos after his exit from his own office. In my mind’s eye I could see him fishing, but they never showed it.

Another thing that struck me as odd was Devalos whole speech to Allison that the Governor, Mayor, etc, understood that sometimes people make mistakes……then he disappears and no one can get through to him? Just weird to me.

So far, NBC doesn’t seem to be powering to the top of the heap in the ratings department.

    I WANT MY MEDIUM BACK!

Since I’ve only seen the commercials for “Chuck” and read what has been written about it, I don’t know if I would enjoy it or not. Could be like some movies that look cute - all the cute parts were in the clips - the rest of the movie sucks.

I read a review of Private Practice on ABC and it wasn’t great - the comments were all about the same, too. I thought it in no way lived up to the writing of Grey’s Anatomy - it’s a shame, because they have assemble a terrific cast - the characters are not likeable and the writers seem to be trying so hard to make them all quirky, that they just come across poorly. The stories in the first episode again seemed to be trying so hard that they are completely unbelievable. I’ll give it another week or two to see if they get any better.

Just like in the Medium season ending 3 episode arc, I think they got a little carried away with the story trying to make it turn out a certain way that it wasn’t as believable as other stories. It wil be interesting to see how they handle all this in the season opener.

    Betty,
How funny - I have an absolutely clear image in my mind of Devalos standing in water halfway up his waders casting a line. I once did that with a book I remembered as illustrated, too. I flipped back through to show someone a picture and there were no illustrations at all…

Too bad about Private Practice. We’re going to have to start reading books instead of watching t.v. pretty soon!

Yes, I had higher hopes for Private Practice, too, but I wasn’t at all impressed with the pilot in the Spring and judging by the first episode and the viewer’s comments, it hasn’t improved. I expected more. Perhaps if it was just another show without the hype, I wouldn’t think it was so bad, but then again, maybe I would.

After all, they have Addison helping this girl she has never seen before to deliver her baby in the birthing suite - part way through, the girl passes out due to some complication and the baby is in distress also. Addison tells hunky office boy - who is complaining because he wants to use his “midwifery skills” as we all know all office boys want to do - and of course the holisitic medicine doc is “helping” with the birth as well and has accupuncture needles stuck in her ears.

Apparently in this town, if you need an ambulance, it will take 10 to 30 minutes to arrive, so Addison decides she must deliver the baby right away via C section and no pain meds - aha! Alternative doc says he can “block her pain completely” yea right. Addison performs the C -section and just hands the baby to the girl’s father (oh, and the girl’s mother just happened to die in childbirth with her) daddy is angry because his daughter is pregnant and sits in corner grousing the whole time until the crisis of course. No one cleans the baby it just magically is OK to wrap in a blanket and let grandpa hold it. All of this just seemed so contrived and not believable in any way. Ambulance arrives AFTER all this. There was another story that seemed rather confusing as well - the shrink - who is a stalker herself, stalking her ex boyfriend and his new squeeze - has a patient who goes bonkers in her brother’s store and is kneeling on the floor counting floor tiles? OH, yea, she had a son who died of a brain tumor and something triggered this breakdown in the store, but the shrink didn’t have any prior knowledge of this tragedy? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Somehow the pediatrician in the practice is able to get the dead boy’s medical file even though he never treated him? I haven’t even mentioned the other story with the lady and man who come to have him leave his sperm sample so she can be artificially inseminated and he has a stroke while, um, trying to leave the sample! Funny, that ambulance didn’t have any trouble getting there. The man dies and the girlfriend is fighting to get his “sample” anyway, but that’s not all, the WIFE shows up wanting it for herself, and the hospital administrator - played by a woman that looks entirely too young to be in that position - is trying to stop them from getting the “sample”. Can you say c-o-n-t-r-i-v-e-d? None of these storylines seemed believable in the least and then it all seemed just too much to cram in one show even if it was believable.

I think they need to calm down and try to develop these characters who are all good actors with name recognition into likeable people we might actually care about. Right now they all seem completely dysfunctional as adults and it makes me wonder how these dysfunctional misfits EVER made it through medical school in the first place, much less to all land in the same office practicing together.

I’ll give them another week or two to get their stuff together if that is even possible, and then if it doesn’t improve, I may watch Criminal Minds on CBS. Now that Mandy Pantikin is leaving the show it will be more watchable. I always thought they were trying too hard to make him like Grissom on CSI, but without the geeky charm of Grissom. Personally, I think MP takes him self waaaay too seriously.

I just don’t see myself watching Bionic Woman. “Life” doesn’t appeal to me at all and as I have said, neither does “Journeyman.” Surely one of these 3 NBC shows will bite it soon. When that happens, I sure hope Medium gets the call!

“Back to You” with Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton looks like it would be cute. Haven’t gotten to see it just yet, I think it is conflicting with Dancing With The Stars. I’m like Dawn, I would like to see it just because KG is one of Medium’s producers and I’d like to support him.

An actor left a note on IMDB saying he just filmed an episode of “Medium” and it would be shown in October; not too sure of this but worth keeping an eye out, just in case.

    Hey, Rachel

Which actor was that and where could I find that? I’m curious to know who else might be appearing on Medium this season.

    Thanks

He wrote on David Cubitt’s message board in August saying he just filmed an episode and his name is Martin Pierron (all of 25 years old!) It’s in the discussion of Medium being renewed for a fourth season.
