Sofia Vassilieva talks about joining the Stand Up To Cancer campaign
January 30, 2010 by Kona Gallagher
Sofia Vassilieva recently joined the Stand Up For Cancer campaign, which both Patricia and her Sister Rosanna Arquette have done work for. Vassilieva says that she was inspired to get involved with the charity after playing a cancer patient in My Sister’s Keeper, and seeing the resilience of young cancer patients first-hand.
According to the video, Stand Up To Cancer has raised over 100 million dollars in just under two years of existence. You can watch Vassilieva’s interview, as well as another PSA featuring such stars as Renee Zellwegger and Rob Lowe, below.
Is Ariel a Murderous Stripper?
September 7, 2009 by Kona Gallagher
Sure, it starts out innocently enough: A haircut; one that makes her look her actual age, instead of perpetually 13. Then the next thing you know, she’s covered in blood with a cold stare and a large weapon in her hands.
Kids– they grow up so fast.
So of course Ariel isn’t actually a murderous stripper this season, but in the second episode of the season, she may be possessed by one. Daemon’s TV has the first picture from 6×02 titled, “Who’s That Girl,” in which Allison believes that Ariel is possessed by a murdered stripper who is now trying to exact …read more
Allison’s hair, and what it may mean for season 6
August 31, 2009 by Kona Gallagher
As you can see from the photos of Medium’s 100th episode celebration, Patricia Arquette is sporting a different ‘do from the one she had in season 5. In fact, it’s even shorter than the bob that she used to have. Daemon’s TV has photos from the season 6 premiere, “Déjà Vu All Over Again.” In it, not only does Allison have a cropped cut, but Ariel has a very similar style.
It’s reasonable to assume that Allison’s cut has something to do with her recent brain surgery. After all, at least part of her head would have had to be shaved …read more
Sofia Vassilieva at “My Sister’s Keeper” Premiere
Sofia Vassilieva attended the New York premiere of My Sister’s Keeper last night. She looked stunning in her silver dress! Joining Sofia in the photos are co-stars Thomas Dekker, Abigail Breslin and Cameron Diaz.
In an interview with Parade, Sofia shares how difficult the role was for her: “In some of the toughest scenes, I’d be crying hysterically between every take.”
Sofia continues in the interview, talking about how hard it was to cut off all her hair, and how she had fun with various fun-colored wigs off the set. Sofia shares that she saved all her hair to make into …read more

“My Sister’s Keeper” Out Tomorrow
Sofia Vassilieva (Ariel Dubois on Medium) stars as Kate in the tear jerker My Sister’s Keeper, which hits theaters tomorrow, June 26, 2009.
In the film, Sofia Vassilieva’s character, Kate, struggles with leukemia. Her parents, Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric), decide to have another child, one genetically engineered to be a perfect organ donor match to Kate. This new daughter, Anna (Abigail Breslin), loves Kate and endures many medical procedures as she grows up. When she hits 11, though, she decides that her body is her own and seeks medical emancipation, which could leave Kate with no hope …read more
Sofia Vassilieva Talks About What Has Been Going on in Her Life
May 14, 2009 by Katelyn
Sofia Vassilieva did a great interview with TV Guide about what she’s been up to. And she looks absolutely adorable with her new hairdo. Very grown up and still innocent. I love it! As great as it looks now, I do still hope she grows it out to be as long as it was in the above photo though. I don’t think Ariel would seem the same without long hair!

My Sister’s Keeper Update
Film Gecko has just posted a preview of Warner’s 2009 movies that includes the news that My Sister’s Keeper will be in theatres May of 2009. This means we’ll get to see at least one Medium character in something new after season five has ended. What a great way to start the summer, huh?
By the way, if you haven’t read the book yet (or even if you have) are you interested in an online discussion group? There are some great questions on Jodi Picoult’s website and the book is a fascinating read. (Sorry. I have to plug reading. It’s in …read more

I know everyone misses seeing Sofia Vassilieva as Ariel on Medium. It just doesn’t seem the same without her tormenting her little sister at the breakfast table! So, I thought I’d tell you about some of the news coming back from the My Sister’s Keeper set:
Miss Missy found a bit of news about how the filming is going. Apparently, it is going to be a four hankie film, because Sofia V. and Abigail Breslin are even making their coworkers sob while the movie is being made and you know …read more
Sofia Vassilieva Doesn’t Need Hair to Look Good
March 7, 2008 by Katelyn
Wow, Sofia looks different without hair, but has nice enough bones to still look okay. (Just Jared has a photo of her on the set for My Sister’s Keeper.) I’m glad she didn’t let the thought of cutting her hair keep her from taking this role. If the movie script is anything like the book, this should be an amazing addition to her acting resume. The book is big in book discussion circles and evokes strong emotion.
I’ve noticed that people who hate it have recently lost a sister or are estranged from a sister they used to be close to. …read more
