Top Five Saddest Medium Victims

I had so much fun compiling my list of the top five Medium bad guys that I thought I’d do another top five list. So, here, in my opinion, are the top five saddest Medium victims:

Season four opened with “And Then” and has the saddest victim of all - the little boy in the doll box. I cried my eyes out over this one. It was so heartbreaking to see him in that box like that horrible exterminator thought of him as nothing more than a discarded toy.

Season four also had the second victim on my list in episodes nine and ten’s “Wicked Game” - Suzie, who is played by Sarah Drew. The betrayal of finding out her killer was her fellow victim had to be terrible for her, but the reason I have her so high on the list is the grief of her mom, Cynthia Keener. How devastating for Cynthia to find out she’d been so close to her sweet daughter while she was dying.

The third victim has to be Maria Soto in the Season Two Episode Nine “Still Life“. A parent dying before her child is such a sad thing, especially when it is so senseless. Geez, adopt a foster kid, already.

Fourth up is a duo - the dress shop owner and daughter in Season Three Episode Seven “Mother’s Little Helper“. Such a waste.

The final victims on my list are from Season One’s Episode Fifteen “Penny for Your Thoughts“. The group of girls murdered by Dr. Charles Walker were so young and so many families were devastated during his killing spree. Plus, having the person you turn to for help kill you is such a terrible betrayal.

By the way, as I was putting the list together, a surprising number of victims either were saved in the nick of time or deserved to die.

Excellent list, Katelyn. Those would definitely be my faves, especially the top two. That little boy is the s4 opener was heartbreaking. I loved that episode, despite its dark, disturbing theme. That’s what I love about Medium- no matter how dark it gets, it’s still a compelling show. And Suzie Keener was also a very sad victim. And the grief of her mother just made it that much sadder.
Btw, I don’t know if you’ve heard about the Emmy nominations, (unfortunately Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber were both snubbed:( -darnit!) But Anjelica Huston was nominated for her role as Cynthia Keener for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Lots of luck to her.

    Dawn,
Yes, I saw that and she definitely deserves it, but I would have liked to have seen a few more nominations. I put up a post with a super photo of Angelica.

I felt so sorry for the cat lady from last season - remember the one with the ghost who DIDN’T want Allison to help him? Really good music score in that one! Although she didn’t end up dead, she found out her fiance really just wanted the life insurance money from his supposed best friend, whom he helped commit suicide - murder really since he pulled the trigger. The man who was so in love with her and adopted a bunch of her cats because he loved so much, was now dead, she here she was all alone with her cats - boo hoo!

The rich lady who took over Allison’s body - come to find out her husband killed her and had performed plastic surgery on his mistress to look just like her so he could keep her billions - you had to feel sorry for her a little bit. She was so lost.

Then there’s the FBI profiler - Oh Katelyn, this might be a good question - spent his life finding the really bad guys - even technicially breaking the law to get rid of them (well, OK, he DID break the law), only to be offed by one himself. Was it a case of “what goes around comes around?” Was he justified in going around the law to knock off serial killers? HMMMMM, so much to ponder here.
