Who is Holliston Coleman?
I was looking through the Medium credits today and realized that I’ve been completely ignoring the talented Holliston Coleman.
“Who?” you ask.
You probably know her as Hannah, or the girl that looks in the window of Ariel’s car door at school. An interesting side note: According to her website, she and Sofia Vassilieva are friends and spend time together off the set, as well.
Known affectionately as Holli by her devoted fans, this young actress has quite a nice acting resume for her young age. Besides her six appearances on Medium (Most recently in Episode 4.2 “But for the Grace of God”), Holli has also appeared in 19 other tv show series and movies. Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks, which is listed as still in production, is her most recent credit and she is the star of the movie.
Seeing her acting credits makes me wonder if Medium is using Holli to full capacity. She seems to be an excellent actress and could probably add so much to the show beyond a head ducking in the window every once in awhile to say “Hi” to Ariel’s mom!

She is a really good young actress, Katelyn. And there have been a couple of episodes where she was used more, like in season two, the episode “Light Sleeper”, when Ariel wanted to walk home from school with Hannah, and she had a crush on an older boy. As always, Hannah was her friend and supporter. And in the season premiere this year, Hannah was the one who told the other girl about Ariel’s Mom and psyched her out so Ariel would get the lead in the school play. In the second ep, when Ariel snuck out to the concert, Hannah was right there with her, her alibi and co-conspirator. Just what every teenage girl needs, right?
And since Ariel is growing up and needs someone to confide in, I have a feeling we may be seeing a lot more of Hannah in the future. Maybe.

You’re right, Dawn, she has been showing up more this season and I’m happy to see it. I think she really works well with Sofia and makes Ariel seem much more realistic.
The deer in the headlight look when she saw Allison walk through the door when Ariel was still on the bus-that was a good scene for her.

It’s nice for someone so young to be getting regular work and to have her talent recognized so she is starring in a movie. Medium does an excellent job of casting - except for you know who - all of the guest stars are first rate.
It makes the show much more real for the whole family when the girls have friends of their own and the same ones - it wouldn’t be very good continuity if they kept bringing in someone different. They do need to show the family playing “musical kids” more though - all Moms know how this works - two of your kids go someplace else to spend the night, but three more come to your house, or 1 kid goes somewhere else and 2 more come over. It’s cool to be the Mom that everyone likes to come hang out at your house, too.

It’s high time someone gave young Holli her due attention. She’s going to be a big star!
I’m producing PROVING GROUND: FROM THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN REDLOCKS, which is actually in preproduction. If anyone has any questions about it or Holli’s involvement in it, please contact me.
