Women’s Murder Club Premiere

by Katelyn on October 12th, 2007

Women’s Murder Club PremiereIn my continuing quest to find something to watch until January, I am watching Women’s Murder Club tonight. It is based on a book by James Patterson that I enjoyed reading a few years ago, so I’m hopeful. It starts with Lindsay, a police lieutenant, chatting on her cell to her ex as another woman, Theresa Wu, falls on her car. Several of her friends (Claire the medical examiner and Jill the assistant d.a.) show up at the scene. They don’t know why Theresa was murdered.

Oh, that lovely dog is an orphan.

murder club premiere Cindy, a young and hungry reporter, keeps showing up and Lindsay catches her making off with evidence. She swears that she was going to turn it in and Lindsay lets her go. Shortly afterward, Lindsay pursues a suspicious man and loses him.

Tom shows up while Lindsay is discussing the case. He’s now her boss. Awkward, huh?

More running, but this time Lindsay catches the guy. “Mr. James, you’re under arrest for pissing me off. Twice.” Good line, although if that was really a reason for arrest, the whole world would be in jail. Ah, Mr. James seems to be a slightly odd stalker. Do we have the killer already? There’s a half hour left.

By the way, where’s the dog? I want to know who’s taking care of it. You can’t introduce an adorable dog and then not let us know how it is doing after it loses an owner.

Mr. James doesn’t look like the killer. He’s weeping over Theresa. Now, he’s collapsed from grief. Stalker, yes. Killer, no.

“Don’t be an ass, Tom.”

“Don’t be an ass, Lieutenant.”

Yeah, I always get upset over people not using my title when they’re calling me names…

Lindsay tries to get Mr. James to trust her. She shows him the message Theresa left her and he starts to open up. Ah, the dog. It seems to like Mr. James. Lindsay attempts to get him to take the dog home.

Lindsay confronts our intrepid reporter and warns her not to overstep her bounds.

Theresa’s lover isn’t acting grief stricken.

Lindsay“I will pencil you in 10 minutes past a woman is dead.” I’m liking Lindsay.

Oh, no. Cindy goes to visit Mr. James and he’s not answering. The dog is there and seems upset. He’s dead. Oh, the poor dog. An orphan again.

Taking time out to bicker over that talk with her ex while a man is hanging there dead. Lindsay is sure that Mr. James did not commit a murder. Claire finds evidence that he was strangled.

Doctor, doctor, did you kill the reporter? Seems likely with fraud. Or maybe it is your hubby, Theresa’s lover, who was the killer. Raine’s clinic was billing the government out the wazoo for false claims and funding hubby’s restaurant. He killed Theresa and Mr. James to cover it up.

Wait. A twist. Raine, who is watching on the other side of the mirror says stop and then she confesses to the whole thing.

“So I held a gun to the dog’s head and he wrote what I wanted.” That dog may be an orphan twice, but it certainly was loved by both owners.

And Lindsay finds out her ex is getting remarried. Not upset, huh? She called him lieutenant. I think she was still carrying a torch for him, no matter what she said to her friends.

Now, what? Who’s back? Oh, no. The serial killer that she tracked so obsessively that it cost her her marriage. He’s some sicko.

Umm, where’s the poor dog now?

Overall, I’d say this is a pretty promising show. Much better than Bionic Woman.

4 opinions for Women’s Murder Club Premiere

I watched this show, too. Haven’t read the book or books.

Did the DA chick bother anyone else? I don’t like her very severe hair style for one, but I thought her make-up made it look almost ill, and I’m sorry. her acting just kept bothering me every scene she was in. I thought the others did a good job. Can’t wait to hear about her coroner friend’s husband - in a wheel chair - nice to have some handicapped people included in a regular storyline, although it would be much better if he’s in the chair for some reason other than having been a cop shot in the line of duy. That would be kind of a cliche tactic.

Promising show - FINALLY something to watch on Friday night!

Anyone else catch Men In Trees? I have to be honest, when it premiered last year, I thought I wouldn’t like it because of Anne Heche - you know all her crazy stuff - “oh I’m a lesbian, no I’m not” and craziness, but I started watching and discovered I like her character and the others and really started enjoying the show, then ABC abruptly pulled it and never brought it back! Fortunately, this season they have 27 episodes since there were 5 from last year that never aired. Who else loves “Plow Guy”?

I loved Northern Exposure when it was on and this has a lot of that feel with the crazy town people and situations that are particular to that type of town.

    Betty,
Yes, I wasn’t fond of the DA either. Men In Trees - I’m pretty fond of it, but I lost track of it near the end of last year. Didn’t they move it to another night or something right before they pulled it? I caught part of this year’s first episode and it seems like I missed a few things.

    Katelyn,

Yes, they put Men in Trees on Friday nights at first, although it didn’t do horrible, it didn’t do great - it probably got the demographic they wanted. Then they moved it to Thursday nights after Grey’s Anatomy after they yanked, Six Degrees or The Nine or one of those shows.

It’s been off for so long, it’s hard to remember! They didn’t even put the repeats on for the summer!

Patrick and Annie both have really crazy families, got engaged, and were embraced eventually by both sides of the their equally screwy families. However, Mom Mai (not sure how she spells it) did a Chinese Chart and discovered according to it they are not at all compatible!

Marin moved into a cabin and had a hunky carpenter/free spirit guy working on it for her, and even though James Tupper’s character decided to stay with Justine Bateman’s character because she was his original girlfriend and is knocked up with another man’s baby, broke Marin’s heart by choosing her over Marin. On a side note, somebody give Justin Bateman some Botox - you could grow potatoes in that furrow between her eyebrows! I think that is her acting style to furrow her brow at everything - personally, I think she is too old for this part.

Cute bar owner decided to stay with his on again off again ex-wife, while the friendly neigborhood hooker who he’s had a fling with, has decided to give up the buisness, but her ex-husband is now suing her for custody of her son. Bar owner agreed to lend her the money for a lawyer, but neglected to tell his wife who found out when miss hooker thanked her for it.

Although Jack has chosen his preggers girlfriend, he keeps going to Marin whenever she’s in trouble much to the consternation of his girlfriend - I’m ready for her to leave already!

Marin is trying to move on, but keeps getting thrown back at Jack. The guy working on Marin’s house usually lives in a tent, so he has temporarily moved into Marin’s house since winter is setting in and he will continue to make improvements - and get some nookie eventually, I’m sure. More complications for Jack and Marin.

Anne Heche was on The View and a couple of other programs last week. She’s bought a house in Vancouver where MIT is filmed and is living with her costar (James Tupper). Apparently they do not have papparrizzi in Vancouver like in LA because she was saying how nice it was to live there and you just did you normal stuff like normal people without a huge herd of photogs trying to catch your every move. Interesting considering more and more of the US programs are being filmed in Vancouver because it’s cheaper. You’d think the papparazzi would follow them up there. I hear it’s very beautiful - would love to go see Vancouver some day.

    Betty,
Thanks for catching me up. Now I can figure out what’s going on. I wonder if Vancouver has regulations on harassment or something so they can’t be so obnoxious? I know that St. Michaels has policies about flying over and stuff and that is why Michael Jackson, Oprah and Julia Roberts were looking for houses there awhile ago.
